I agree the Tower classroom and Vault is what makes it special. You cannot recreate that anywhere else. Somm school is one of the best experiences you can have in life if you love whiskey the way we do. Cheers

That Jameson single pot still is fantastic. I brought a bottle home from Middleton last year and loved every drop of it, Even when it was back here in the States. It was distillery exclusive at the time at least.

I learned at the Guiness museum and read some article on the fact that Guiness has different recipes to match the taste profile of the market. Plus freshness matter in beer and so does the management of tap systems and how it’s poured. So while I agree Guiness in Ireland may not be “better,” it’s a different recipe, served fresher by people who take national pride in the care and service of it and drank by everyone so the flip kegs faster. Of course setting and context matters and that difference would be a lot less if we were to blind taste test an American Sports bar Guiness alongside an Irish pub Guiness in a blank white room. But with what I know about Guiness and restaurant keg management, I’d have to disagree that they’d be the same.

The best guinness was in an irish pub in galway ireland when ireland won a soccer match against england. Magical and unforgettable. The happiness in the streets was beautiful to witness. Context really does matter.

Drinking a Guinness in an Irish Pub cannot be beat. The environment adds to the experience. It just doesn't translate to anywhere else. The space and the people makes it special. Slainte!

Daniel, thanks for another good video. I've been a fan of Jameson Black Barrel for a few years, and I'm always on the lookout for new things, so I'll give this a try. I just did a check and the nice thing is that my local LCBO, which never has any good whiskey in stock, has 19 (soon to be18 😁) bottles on the shelf. Cheers.

Good to hear your take on the Jameson pot still. I really enjoyed the Distillers Safe and was hoping this was going to be close.. but it's a whole different beast with the sugar forward. Still good tho - cheers.

I had a similar experience with context making a huge difference. A year ago I had a couple friends from high school over to my apartment and I cooked dinner. After we ate, I asked them if they minded if I poured myself some whiskey (one doesn't drink and the other can't have alcohol). They told me they didn't mind and it was my apartment so I could do whatever I wanted. I had my drink and we were taking and having a great time. That was one of the best pours I've ever had because I was drinking with my friends, even if they weren't drinking themselves. Context can make a huge difference when it comes to an experience! 🥃

90% of my Whisky collection is single malt. I have a single bottle of a single pot still, that is the Redbreast 12. I would love to try one of the Spot series, the Teeling single pot still. But next on the shoping list is the Jameson single pot still. Daniel, you said, that it is too sweet for your taste. I love too sweet whisky. What would interest me, is, if there is any other hint of the european virgin oak other than spice in the taste? Thaks for the video. Cheers.

Guinness can vary from pub to pub in Dublin, never mind from country to country. And it can also vary in the same pub from time of day. There's dozens of factors that influence this. My dad won't drink a Guinness in our local unless he sees at least 5 other people drinking it, this ensures 'good flow' in the taps. I don't like to drink it unless 1 particular barman is working as his pour is slightly different. Guinness themselves say they have different recipes for different parts of the world. The Guinness that is brewed in Ireland doesn't travel well, so the line that you disagree with 'theres no Guinness like the Guinness in Ireland' is absolutely correct and we pride ourselves on it 👍🏻👍🏻

I’ve been wanting this Jameson pot still but I can’t get it. Hoping I can when I go fly a few places next year. I love when a whiskey is effervescent and sparkles in my mouth. I feel like that’s how you were explaining how this one does. Yeah it’s crazy how location affects a whiskey. I absolutely love knob creek 9 just because of an amazing night I had with some good friends and it one night.

Of all the standard Single Pot Still whiskies coming out of Midleton, this one is my favourite. MVR Barry Crockett Legacy is probably my overall favourite, but it's also about five times the price of this. Also, I'm fairly certain that this started as an Ireland exclusive, but is now available in the US.

I've had a shot of Jameson SPS when they were doing a marketing tour, and I was told that it was a somewhat limited release, but it was hard to find in stores at the time when they were here in town. But I bought some a couple of months ago that were the January 2023 batch, so it was definitely available in retail here in Ontario, Canada. It's hard to go wrong with a Jameson, but I've yet to try the IPA edition of the Caskmate brand.

It’s like drinking a great bottle of wine in Tuscany, buying a bottle to take home only to find out what a disappointment it is. The experience of a vacation or tour should stay where the experience was experienced (or however you express it).

Drinking a Guinness in a pub in Ireland might be the best way. But you can’t tell me drinking it on tap in a bar/pub in Tulsa ain’t better than drinking it out of a can. I’m wiling to fight over this. My inner Irish heritage will come out. Not everyone can make it back to our ancestral home. We take what we can get.

I've always though there was a difference between Guinness that was produced by Sungei Way and Ireland. Maybe it's the water.

Food, alcohol, or other forms of art are ALL subjective. One person likes this particular whiskey but another person might dislike it, or even hate it.

The only thing that would be different is the water used in that location which would impact the flavor slightly. They’ve probably considered this and have a specific process to purify and add whatever minerals needed to replicate the water in Dublin.
@WhiskeyVault19 сағат бұрын
Actually, according to Guinness, they alter the recipe slightly across the world
@bmac993616 сағат бұрын
Blending in unpredictable. Until I added a little lemon juice to my tomato juice I would have never believed that two acids could cancel out the tart taste but it absolutely does. Of course too much makes it taste lemony but there is a neutral blend where you can taste the purity of the tomato juice. Try to avoid canned juice because nothing can cover that metallic taste.

Guinness is better in Ireland. Nothing to do with "atmosphere" or "environment". It's brewed fresh and the pubs know how to serve it. Fundamentally the further from Ireland, the worse it gets. When you get into Africa they have African Guinness, which is class - but a different product.
