Klang interessant, also habe ich ihn ausprobiert.

I have the original Scorpion Trail on my Moto Guzzi Stelvio with about 1000 miles on tires. They look like they will wear well. I mention since I have used Pirelli Angel tires on my Triumph Trophy that are again lasting over 12000 miles (that''s over 19000 kilometer).

Can I ask you, the grip is equal in repect to Pirelli or Conti Road attack III?
@MotoVibes
@MotoVibes 4 жыл бұрын
@@AdrianoEllero Very likely not - the rubber compount is different on the Road Attack - when you ride it hard it starts to looks like racing tire and gets very sticky to the touch. Neither the Pirelli ST2 or the Continental Trail Attack 2 or 3 will be that sticky. With that beeing said - they will all offer enough grip to scape the foot pegs on the KTM 1290 on dry roads. Most of us will not be pushing their bikes much further than that ;-)

Brilliant, thank you for sharing! (Having to change tires to often sucks, really. 10 trips a month of 400 km - and every 6 weeks to two month change tires - due to wear? This really sucks. Of course because of the work in the first place. In a track it's quite normal to change tires multiple times a day, but that's a different business.)

Thank you James - us motorcyclist are definitly asking a lot - race track performance of a street tire that last 10.000 km or more- of course with perfect wet condition performance too ;-) But in all seriousness - I am impressed of the advancements in tire technology just in the past years - we may actually be getting what I described very soon - who knows!? Thank you so much for the vídeo and the information. So, let me make you a question: What do you think about put in the front the Continental Road Attack 3 and, in the rear, the Continental Trail Attack 3? Have you tested that?
@MotoVibes
@MotoVibes 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you - not quite but I had to change the rear tire on the tour and the only tire I could get was a Scorpion Trail 2 and I kept the Road Attack 3 in the front. So, my current street tire setup is a combination of a Road Attack 3 (now my third) in the front and a Scorpion Trail 2 (similar to the Trail Attack ) for the rear. I think the ST2 rear will last longer than the RA3 rear tire while still providing good performance.

@@MotoVibes did you find the stock tyres to be of decent quality? You've said that you ran them until they were worn out (and then ran through a couple more sets) so I'm assuming you didn't feel immediately that new rubber was a necessity after purchasing the bike. So I'm guessing the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 tyres are sufficiently good performing tyres to not require a change of rubber straight away? In the past I've had new bikes where at the end of the engine break-in kilometres I have had to change tyres at the time when I'm getting the 1st service done, for the simple reason that I felt the tyres being the weakest link by far & therefore they did not inspire confidence at all. My question to you here, specifically about your bike & your experiences with it, is because my 2020 Super Adventure S has just arrived from KTM at my local dealership & the mechanics are currently in the process of outfitting it with all the KTM accessories & aftermarket accessories that I had bought prior to the bike being delivered. As such I am very interested in how you felt that the stock Pirelli's held up, and perhaps even how they compared to the new Pirelli's you replaced the original ones with - did you notice that the new Pirelli's that you bought were in any way better than the Pirelli's that came fitted on the bike? The KZbin channel FortNine did a video explaining how bulk tyre orders by manufacturers for new bikes were almost always outsourced to the tyre manufacturer's cheapest production factories in far away places so that the bike manufacturer can get a better price on "quality" tyres but pay significantly less because of the tyres being produced in mass quantities by tyre manufacturers' third tier factories where labour is far cheaper, quality control is less stringent, and among other factors like each tyre produced has perhaps a 30% less total mass of rubber compounds resulting in a far shorter life of the tyre. It can often easily be seen too by checking the imprinted codes on the tyre walls that state the country code of production and comparing that with an equivalent tyre that is bought yourself. The link to FortNine's video I am referring to is below: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqecaJyVYrtqnqM Also, I must thank you for your video whereby you went through all of the upgrades / changes you made to your SAS. As a result of watching that I went ahead myself and ordered that awesome GPS mount that is CNC machined by Schaal, I purchased the same homologated brake & clutch levers (albeit in a different colour combination), and I even went ahead a purchased myself an airbag vest, similar to the one that deployed on you when you lost traction due to the distraction of the camera guy and as a result you bike went for a slide in the grass & rocks. Thankfully you wasn't injured though! I didn't opt for the helite brand, instead I chose hit-air, the concept is almost identical, my vest is also black however it appears to have a small textile-like pattern all over and just looks like a cool pattern in the day however at night the pattern serves as a reflective material when any light hits it. It's great because it is discreet, oftentimes the reflective options are entirely covered on the outside with that material, which, in my opinion doesn't look nearly a good as all black garments. Anyway thanks again for your great uploads man, that GPS mount from Schaal is amazing quality (I mentioned in my email correspondence with Schaal that I was ordering the product after having seen it on your channel also, not sure if it helps you but I thought it was worth them knowing anyway), my levers are now homologated too - prior to seeing your video I was looking at others that certainly weren't homologated and that was reflected in the price, so I'm also super happy with the quality of the articulating levers. Yesterday I went to the dealership to show where I wanted the front & rear INNOV K2 cameras installing (a fantastic product by the way, perhaps being a KZbin creator you may find value in such a system - also, because it is always recording when engine is on you'll always have video evidence stored no matter what happens), anyway I saw that they had already installed the PUIG windscreen that I had ordered. Perhaps it was simply due to the fact the bike was inside but the tinted screen seemed to appear almost too dark. I am hoping that when I get the bike outside that this will no longer be a problem at all. However I recall you saying in one of your videos that you also had the PUIG screen initially, correct? and that you changed it to a GIVI screen for better wind protection. Is there any difference between the darkness of the tint on the PUIG and the GIVI screens? Also did you find that the PUIG screen was too dark? Thanks a lot man, my apologies for the crazy long message but I know you have the same bike as me and I was hoping I could maybe get your opinions on the few topics above. I absolutely love Austria & Bavaria, I've spent quite a bit of time in those regions but I have always been there with my wife and travelling in a car. I have never ridden there on a motorbike and prior to my SAS I've never had bike that would have been comfortable enough to do the big distances on - however now that I have the SAS I feel I wI'll at some stage be compelled to make a journey up to the Alps via Australia & Germany. I am based in southern Spain so it will, certainly be a long journey, but hell that's what the 1290 Super Adventure S is built for hey? I am super fortunate also in that a business partner owns a hotel in Oberstaufen which has an underground parking garage and I am able to take advantage of staying there whenever I'm in the area - so my plan is to make that my destination, arrive and relax for a few days making use of their sauna and then use the hotel as a base for a few weeks so that I can take the SAS out on different journeys to different areas and regions while using Oberstaufen as a base. I'm honestly really looking forward such a journey and making it happen - the countryside and scenery around there is just spectacular.

@@foxtrot.tango.whisky Thank you for your praise and nice comment. Congratulations to your new KTM! I am happy to read that the accessories video was helpful and I am especially glad to read that you purchased an airbag vest! I hope you will never need it. As for the tire question - I had no issues with the performance of the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 with any of the sets I had on the bike incuding the factory installed set of tires. I saw the FortNine video - I am sure some manufacturers do that but probably not all. I could not tell a difference between different sets. The only issue that I had was the wear on the front tire - I believe the Continental Road Attack 3 was not even available during my first year with the KTM 1290 SAS so it was not an option then. As for the tint of the Puig and Givi screen - they were very similar. The tint looks very dark in some of my videos too but you can actually see the road quite well even through a dark visor - I would not worry about that. The Givi is a bit wider and covers the shoulder a little bit better. Windshields are a bit of a trial and error thing - good thing they are not super expensive. Southern Spain is a great place to ride too - with a much longer season for riding too ;-) but I hope you get to experiene the alps as well - great places to ride in the alps. Have fun with your new motorcycle! Ride safe! cheers!

The front has also developed quite a few small splits at the same points around the full circumference which is worrying. They are supper grippy and confidence inspiring in the bends but I will rather go for Road Tec01's or PR5's next.

Thank you for your nice feedback. The changes in top speed stability that I noticed were usually influenced more by clothing and wind as far as I can tell. My Road King’s front tyre always lasted much longer than the rear when I used the Harley preferred Dunlop tires but when I went to the Avon tires, it was a closer run thing. So I was quite surprised when I went to the BMW GSA with Bridgestone A41 tires and the front is looking average at 7000 kliks but the rear looks good. 🤷‍♂️ I do push on a bit but not madly.

I have to admit the tire wear is stronger when riding faster - well, actually when decelerating faster in this case. Then again - the Conti does not have this issue and I know most other tires will not wear the front out first. I think they jus twent to soft on the rubber compound for these heavy ADV bikes.

I have not tried that one yet - not sure which one would be next - it would be interesting to try something different next time.

@@MotoVibes sorry it was not quite correct information. just bought a new set of K60 scouts, and found my milage note and pictures i made when i bought the tyres i changed. I used them for 19 months and eactly 21.000 kms not 30 k but still not bad :) and i ride quite naughty, just was afraid that they will get punctured easily since to thickness left on them.

FranBunnyFFXII the mileages you get very much depends on how hard you ride and where you ride. You can certainly get 2-3k out of the tires

Ich habe es jetzt mal auf Englisch versucht - da ist noch einiges an Material aus dem Sommer auf der Festplatte - spart die doch sehr aufwendige Arbeit mit den Untertiteln.
