I have a 2021 Kia Niro SX Touring PHEV in Canada and absolutely love this car. Perfect for my needs.

That interior looks like a nice place to be. A logically layed out interior with conventional equipment that we are familiar with is nice to see.

Great car. Good for 6' 4" person, spacious; good pedal distance for large feet !! Smooth ride. My Niro LXS is getting 55 mpg after 350 miles so far. No worries about plugging-in on the road. Battery rechargers upon braking.

Thank you very much indeed! Yes, I did notice the regenerative braking when I drove it. The fuel economy of these is excellent, and they are very spacious.

The perfect family SUV, and great value hybrid tech, and rather good economy, an adventure too.

Thank you, sir! I actually really enjoyed driving it. I think that this is a really good car for modern motoring.

12:34 the 12 vot battery (as well as the hybrid battery) lies underneath the back row seats...

Which is the same on a lot of modern cars.

We have the top level Niro Hybrid from 2019 . In Canada it was called the Touring . Fantastic car 5 years in . The best car in my 52 years of driving . Ours doesn't have a 12 volt battery . Under the passenger rear seat is the lithium traction motor , alongside of that is a smaller lithium unit that acts as a battery . The car has no starter , and the air conditioning is run off electricity . You can keep the car going around the clock giving heat or cooling . It cycles the gas engine on and off , meaning that you can sleep in there with the engine off most of the time , keeping a comfortable temperature . One more thing , this is not the standard Hyundai 1.6 litre engine . This one runs on the Atkinson cycle . That means lower power , but greater efficiency .

@lloydvehicleconsulting Thanks for that excellent review . Here in Winnipeg , I've driven it from _ 37c to + 37c , and never an issue , other than one recall and one sensor .

They do tend to be quite dependable, and they did come with a seven year, 100,000 mile warranty over here.

Another great review Gentleman, looks good in white with a black spoiler, this is a car I am hoping to get a review at some point in the future to compare with the Ioniq I drove nearly a year ago.
@lloydvehicleconsulting3 жыл бұрын
Yes sir, I have also driven an Ioniq absolutely ages ago, would be interesting to have another go in one again. Glad you enjoyed the video, Mr Watters!

17:20 for a few extra money, KIA NIRO COMES WITH A FULL SIZED SPARE WHEEL... and the space in the back is large enough, believe me... 4 people's luggage cand fit there...
@lloydvehicleconsulting7 ай бұрын
They obviously didn't think the press cars needed spare wheels.

Lovely looking car, nice review. 🙂 Question: I`m still learning about electric and hybrid cars. Why would anyone chose a plug in hybrid model over a conventional hybrid one? 🤔
@lloydvehicleconsulting3 жыл бұрын
Well sir, if you want to know about Plug-In Hybrids, you may find tomorrow's video enlightening.... The Niro is an excellent standard hybrid car, though!

Bizarre no front parking sensors included. Usually it's heated leather seats & reverse cam saved for top trims. Otherwise a great car.

Thank you for watching! Sadly, I only had this particular opportunity to film the car, right in the middle of an 800 mile road trip, hence why there were lots of personal effects in it.

I'm looking at buying either one of these or a hybrid Hyundai Kona. Can anyone give advice ? Has anyone experience of both ? Self charge model I'm thinking of
@lloydvehicleconsulting2 жыл бұрын
The powertrain is identical. Many of the parts are identical as they share the same platform. However, this is more spacious than the Kona, has a longer warranty, feels slightly better made, and has a bigger boot. I filmed a Kona on the channel a long time ago, and I have driven one too, and they don't feel very different.

My ten pennyworth, as a technology dinosaur: these are just my opinions, after all :-). To be fair, I have similar feelings about ALL modern cars of this ilk. Positives: The car has a relatively nice-looking exterior. The fuel economy is very good. It seems that you found it very good to drive. Negatives: The car will not age gracefully. There are far too many electronic devices. They WILL, as you know, fail. When they do fail the user won't be able to fix them. Diagnostics and trouble-shooting will need to be done by specialist people and specialist equipment. The interior is unremittingly black, gloomy and totally devoid of what I would call "organic" charm. Unavoidable patina of the interior, when it develops, will similarly be unattractive compared to that exhibited by more "natural", traditional counterparts, such as those using leather, textiles and wood. The shiny black surfaces will be dirt and grease magnets. There is no spare wheel. Where is the conventional battery? Out of sight can mean out of mind. As ever, I DO thank you for a good review.
@lloydvehicleconsulting3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, sir! The 12V battery is under the back seat, we had to look it up... A lot of the things you mention about the car are pretty common amongst many makes and models these days. You are right about the electronics requiring specialist equipment and expertise, however the many safety and emissions standards modern cars have to meet, as well as consumer demand, means that they end up having to be a certain way. This is not to everyone's taste, but it is what the manufacturers themselves have to be mindful in terms of making cars that people will buy, even if there a good few out there would really prefer more "traditional" models.
