I had a first generation Niro, loved that one, but a bit bland. I now have the 2023 Niro hybrid and it is nice inside and out and has tonnes of saftey driver assistant stuff. But overall, much better, nicer than the last Niro. I am happy with my purchase. South Dakota, US. 51 mpg without trying. Just love it. My ride to work is as relaxing as sleeping. Really. Nature sounds as well.

I've been waiting for this. Brilliant review. I have one, and the economy has really impressed me.

I've had a Niro 2 for the last 6 months, perfect, can't fault it so far, boot is big enough to fit all of my girlfriends electric disabilty scooter in, carries 4 in comfort and averages about 65mpg! I keep the tank full, it's cheaper, I do about 125-145miles pw on all roads and driving styles and to fill back up it costs me £13 to brim it off. So yeah, I'd recommend it to anyone who's looking for cheap, reliable and economic daily travel...sorry, only one complaint, the rear window gets filthy when the weather is shitty and I think that's due to the side vents channeling the dirty water lol, but a very minor complaint.

I know this is from a year ago but I just want to say about the fuel economy of my 73reg Niro 3 HEV. When I collected it a few months ago I got 64.9mpg on a journey that included a dual carriageway (about two to three miles) and country B road (about fourteen miles). It was a warm sunny day (yes there was one this year) and I found the lane keep assist intrusive near to and on bends. I found the 'off' button for that. Press and hold the steering wheel button on the left of the steering wheel and see the dark orange/brown steering wheel symbol appear on the dash and you're done. That has to be done each time you start the car unfortunately. Nice review Bear, like your style.

How does the 2023 KIA Niro EX hybrid hold up with winter weather?

I bought a hybrid EX model two weeks ago. Before I started looking for a hybrid, I had never heard of the Niro before. I haven't seen another one on the road since.

Great content as always. I was gonna consider the EV version until I noticed the charging speeds hadn't changed much. I ended up with a MG4 long-range (sacrificing the boot space). I am very happy with the choice, particularly the fun drive being RWD and getting a constant 143kw from 3 to 50%, after which it gradually tails off

i drive the original Niro Hybrid, for 3 years now. I don't see major differences in the new version. The style and design were nicer in the old version... from the outside.. the interior is better, i think.

I agree, I have a Niro 4 on my last year of a 3-year lease, but to get a new Niro 2 would be an extra £100 a month. so unfortunately I will have to look elsewhere.

I recently got my new Honda HRV Advance Style and I was interested in this review as a comparison. There are many commonalities between the two cars in terms of functionality and driving experience. I am getting around 60 to 65mpg in everyday driving, and I love keeping it in EV mode by using a very light throttle. Great revue as usual, keep them coming👍😎
@fragu123 Жыл бұрын
..in my personal experience, the Niro has a much better drive, much more comfortable with a lot less noise in the cabin. On the other hand, the HRV seems to be slightly more frugal…

Great review . Which would you buy bear ? Lexus UX or KIA Niro 3 is my budget. I find the Kia ergonomics better as UX too tight. Coming from an old E class. Comfort is my priority thanks in advance 🖐

Strange that the steering wheel controls are reversed in my Hyundai Tucson. Driving tech like cruise control is on the right, voice control and media on the left.

I'm actually torn between which I want to get, Sportage, or Niro. I don't need a lot of room, but I love Niro's MPG. but no towing if I actually wanted to, and only FWD. So if I it just had AWD, I'd work everything else out. Even the lack of spare tire, which you can just buy one and put it in the back.... But 54'ish mpg vs 38'ish mpg.. is a sizable difference.

Was hoping to find out more regarding the EV side of this Hybrid. Been looking at different non plug in Hybrid cars on different channels and no one really tells us the point of the EV.. is it literally just to get the car going and the engine kicks in immediately or can you actually drive let’s say on a 20-30mph road for miles purely on EV? I don’t have a way to plug it in at home hence at looking at a full Hybrids.. otherwise I wouldn’t waste time on plug in and go straight for full EV..
@martinmidgley5610 Жыл бұрын
OK, this is how it works... A plain old Hybrid (a.k.a. HEV, or "Self-charging Hybrid") has a relatively small battery, generally less than a mile's worth. It reduces consumption by taking power from "regenerative braking" that then powers the car. Reduces petrol consumption by around 10-20%. A plug-in hybrid (a.k.a. PHEV) has a bigger battery - around 30 miles worth - and costs a bit more, and generally makes good sense for urban drivers. On a motorway, the petrol engine kicks in. Then there's full electric, which is fine for those who are confident about the charging infrastructure. I'm not one of those, so PHEV makes more sense to me.
@mn2k2shox Жыл бұрын
@@martinmidgley5610Another question then with the plug in hybrid, if you’re only driving short distance or urban driving in general, will the regenerative braking be sufficient to keep the car charge where you only need to charge once a week or do you still need to plug it in? Asking as we don’t have the mean to charge at home.
@SaxJockey Жыл бұрын
@@mn2k2shoxI might be wrong, but I don't think a PHEV has to be plugged in. If the battery charge gets too low due to low speed/urban use, the engine should cut in...so in effect it costs you in petrol; which kind of encourages you to plug in (if can can do so).

I have a kia nero hybrid 2023 I use it to go winter car camping in the mountains with friends and the thing thats annoying is that if i put it in nuteral with the car engine on to blast the heating all night the engine starts and wakes me up after 5 mins then turns itself back off wich disrupts my sleep. Is there away around this so i can have the heating on without being disrupted every 5 mins be much better if the engine came on every hour instead of 5 mins. I put the car in eco mode is there something i can do to avoid it coming on so frequently.
