The Gaz-n-Joe Q&A style is a winner !! I used to have to pause your videos to get my head around concepts, but the Q & A style really works, and it sinks in first time 💡 . As always, BIG thanks

I am slightly confused and not for the first time! why would you have to disconnect the cpc when conduit is being used for earthing purposes? I thought that the conduit would be directly connected to the metal casing which in turn would create an equipotential situation.

Hi. Steel conduit creates a parallel earth path and testing needs to prove the cpc (conductor) is continuous. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGqXlX1tdriFirs Thanks GSH

Well explained. Cheers for your continued effort gents. As a result; does the switching line has to be higher than the permanent live no matter what? Links

In a real life situation where there "may" be hidden earthed metal conduit - there is a possibility that the electrician carrying out the testing would never know about this - so would it not be best practice to remove the CPC from the common earth bar in the CU and then clip onto the individual CPC to carry out the testing. This would guarantee that there is no interference from any parallel earthing route to skew the results.

in the am2s are you required to test r1+r2 from each lighting point and switch line? thanks

Whilst nulling the leads; what does it mean if the display on a Megger MFT is showing 0.00 and it is ‘flashing’? I think it means it is registering a MINUS value. Simply null again.

I was thinking what's the difference between a prospective fault current test ( ipf ) and a R1 + R2 test. not much by the look of it just that your testing a circuit with an R1 + R2 test and an ipf test is done at the DC with line and earth. - i just needed to say this

Could you connect your link lead to the buzz bar with the breakers on other circuits switched off to save removing the conductors or would the breaker skew the reading?

r1+r2 test results so what is maximum value acceptance of continuity of protective conductors?

So you test between CPC-COM at both of the two ways and is this the same depending on the different ways of wiring two ways?

The CPC is connected to the earth bar in a consumer unit which is connected to the earthing conductor.... which is connected to the greater mass of Earth. Thanks for commenting and watching. Gaz 👍

Hi great video! If the reading from the exposed conductive part was higher than from at the terminal would you record this result? Or do only direct readings from the cpc count for R1 +R2? Cheers!

Both guidance notes 3 & 643.1 of the regs say that you should compare your data to the relevant criteria. You have not even mentioned that, so you only get half the marks in any exam questions about this test method in my class. SMH.
