Hi. Can effective date of contract in Ireland be backdated? For example signed on 01.01.2022 but with effective date of 01.11.2021?

if something is mandatory to receive a state payment and you are told you will lose out (decrease in payment ) if you don't sign a contract with a private company, is this a legal contract? if an individual does not receive any gain above what they were getting (in terms of skills which they already have) and are incurring an opportunity cost in terms of time. The person has shown he/she has the skills and has co-operated in providing evidence with a state body.

if i give a deposit of a car (dealer offers price, i accept, i pay consideration as a deposit) , and they sell the car without notice to me, can i sue for damages ?

No, but it will depend on what was agreed between you and whether a contract had been formed and concluded or not.

Hi Terry. I'm currently employed under a new company for the last 3 months under a "0 hour contract" although have been promised fulltime hours each week (which has been the case so far) but have not signed any form of contract apart from a "starter form" giving bank details etc which mentioned nothing about hours or shifts. When I say the working conditions are diabolical is an understatement, leading to sever potential physical and mental health risks (pictures can be provided on request to help explain my case). I have been told I need to give 2 weeks notice if I'm to leave. Is this correct? Also I was told by my most senior manager that if I were to leave under the condition of the poor working environment he would see that I woukd never get work in the ROI again. Where do I stand here in regards to walking out of my job? Also, woukd the social welfare penalise me for leaving fulltime employment? Kind regards Dean

If there is no written contract between you and the employer you are obliged to give 1 week's notice, given that you are only there 3 months.(13 weeks to 2 years service means 1 week notice) I have no idea what social welfare would do, to be honest.
