Hey guys!! First of all - thank you so much for all the congratulatory comments ❤ its so lovely to read them all. Second - I deffo didn’t edit the video very well 😂 Mikey had been given an interview for a school on Yanchep, however the email he got from international recruitment stated that he was the recommended applicant for a DIFFERENT school. I just didn’t mention the name of the school in the video as it’s a very small town, but it is 1 hour from the coast and about 1.5h from Perth Northern suburbs. So we’re gonna be in a more remote area, but still very much looking forward to it all!

We came to Perth in 1981 with a 5 and 3 year old and we have had a great life in Western Australia. Yanchep is a great spot on the coast with affordable housing, and a national park. I could not think of a better place to bring up a young family.

Everything falls into place, the minute you focus on something worthwhile! 🤗 I'm so happy for you! It will be a great lifestyle, and half the stress is over - hopefully you'll have a few days of rest and explore before you start! Make a spreadsheet of things you will bring or leave, and keep ticking things off! Only bring favorite toys, favorite snacks, a change of kids clothes and some rain jackets onboard! So excited, keep us informed! 🙋🎉💕

👏👏👏👏Congratulations Tate family. You'll love it here in WA im sure. Yanchep is a lovely area, and you even have a small koala population there ( the koalas used to be apart of an old wildlife sanctuary up there). Great fishing and boating as well in that area. Yanchep is pronounced Yanship. I would suggest you go to your chemist, and see if you can get some eucalyptus wipes, so you can hold a wipe on your kids noses, as you land in Perth. The built up pressure in kids ears can be excruciating pain for kids, which is why so many kids are screaming when getting off a plane, the smell of eucalyptus helps break the pressure. Take a cuddly toy, a small electronic game or ipad for the older child, and low sugar snacks for them. The airplane stewardess will provide colour pencils etc. Take low in sugar drinks for them also. Nothing worse than your child getting hyper on a plane. Good luck and congrats again xx

Yanchep is right on the coast and at best you'd be 5 mins from the beach. We have some of the best beaches in the world. Via the freeway it's about a 40 minute drive into the city, but you'd not need to go there very often, there are major shopping hubs with Joondalup about 15 mins away. The train line has just opened up there, so it's really convenient. I live in Butler, which is sort of half way between Yanchep and Joondalup and I love the area. It's a much newer area up this way, although Yanchep has been a small beach community since the 60s, it's just the urban sprawl has finally caught up with it. All the infrastructure is pretty much brand new. You're going to love it up here, if you like the warmth and the outdoors, you're in heaven.

Omg congratulations that’s amazing news. Very happy for you all finally ! Thanks for sharing your Australian visa/job journey. We are also in the ‘limbo stage’ at the moment and it’s great to see these kinds of videos as I can relate to them so much. Most videos I find are people who are already there not many people share the journey of trying to get over. We are moving Edi-Perth in 2025. All the best with your move. Hope to see more videos. Thanks ☺️

Ahhh honestly, this is why I've wanted to share it from the very beginning - because these things don't happen overnight like you see online when people share from the point they get a visa; it's like any kind of success, it comes from working at it, so I'm really pleased you've enjoyed it and I 100% plan to keep posting and sharing all of the in between bits too. I think the video for next week is 'a week in the life sorting our life out to move across the world' haha. Wishing you so much luck with your journey too!

I'm so, so pleased for you guys. Yanchep was pretty well pronounced. Instead of 'chep' try 'shep'. You are only 5 minutes from the beach. I don't know a lot. Years since I went there I live in Rockingham, by the beach. The opposite side of Perth. Make the kids tired before the flight. Let them sleep most of the time. Don't feed them rubbish, makes them hyperactive. Food on the planes are good. If they do cry and some people are disturbed, bugger them. Live your life. The seats at the rear are the best. Close to the toilet for the kids. I've been following your plight, so happy for the result.👏

Congratulations!! 🥳 Lots and lots of development going on in the Yanchep area (housing etc) and the rail line got extended into Yanchep so even commuting on public transport has become much easier (I think it takes about an hour into the CBD). Think it will be great for you guys! There's also quite a few Facebook groups for mum's groups and things like that (all local areas in Perth have these), might be worth joining those ahead of time to get a feel for things that are going on. ☺

Well congratulations. Yes you pronounced Yanchep correctly. I have not been there only to Perth but it started life as a village well north of Perth but it is now a well equipped sizeable town on the edge of the Perth metro area. It has gorgeous beaches and most of the basics in facilities and is only an hour from Perth City Centre. So all the best in the move.

Congratulations guys on finally getting offered a contract after all those disapointments. We went through Yanchep last year on a lap around Australia with our caravan its now more like a coastal suburb on the fringe of Perth than an isolated town and if I recall there is a reasonably new suburban rail line linking it to the city. That section of the coast from Yanchep up to Geraldton is pretty popular with the locals for spending holidays there are plenty of places to explore that are not too far away from Yanchep like Perth city, Fremantle, Cervantes, The Pinacles, Jurien Bay. Lancelyn, Geraldton etc. We travelled a number of long haul flights with our kids who were similar ages to yours and the biggest thing other than trying to keep them amused was the discomfort that the changing pressure had on their ears - as a couple of the ealier posters suggested giving them something to chew during the take offs and descents can help. 24hrs is a long time on a plane if you are lucky they will sleep for decent amounts of it also a break in Dubai or somewhere similar can also be welcome relief even its just to stretch your legs and give you a break from the confines of an areoplane cabin.. You are definately going into it with the right mindset the 24hrs of discomfort will be well worth it especially after waiting so long for it all to happen. I think you maybe travelling a bit longer than 24hrs when you factor in the time that you leave home until the time you finally arrive in Perth it is going to take you a few days to shake off the jet lag and feel normal again...Safe travels and good luck with the next chapter of your lives.

My wife is from the UK (Cornwell) & i was born & bred in Perth. She came here some 20yrs ago & never went back (except for holiday's visiting family). We went back in May for a wedding in Kent & did some tourist stuff travelling around the place including seeing reli's in Harrogate, spending time in London etc. There is no way she could ever go back to life in the UK and the weather as she hates the cold now. We also toured Europe in that same trip and when we got back home it hit me just how lucky we are living in Perth raising a family We have travelled to many countries over the yrs and it is always the same feeling on returning home - that it is great to be back home to our lifestyle

Firstly congratulations! As for flying with kids, hear me out... a snackle box! I'm 28 and I still take these on every flight and the flight attendants always ask about them. Easiest way to make sure the kids have foods they'll enjoy and makes flying a tiny bit easier. Would also recommend a "go pack" for each each person, filled with their necessities in the case something happens to luggage. YT kids has a download feature which I found invaluable! Not sure if Roblox has an offline mode, but minecraft does if the 6 yo has a device. Also don't forget to stretch throughout the duration of the flight! Good luck! 😀

Gorgeous seaside town, huge Brit population, lots of new builds going on there. My hubby does plenty of tiling jobs up there and in its nearby suburbs of Two Rocks and Alkimos. Yanchep has a gorgeous lagoon for swimming, we used to take day trips up there back in the 80s and 90s when there wasn’t much else to do but picnic and swim all day. ❤

Dang, I've never clicked a link so fast, lol. So happy to hear your great news, congratulations 🎊 My mode of travel always consists of breaking it up into 3 flights 7-8hr flights (flying to Australia is faster then flying to the Uk due to tail winds). First stop is Dubai, usually spend 2-3hrs there between flights to stretch out my legs and have a restbite from sitting in the plane. Then 7-8hrs on to Singapore, my very favourite airport in the world! It has so much to see and do just in the airport so any amount of time spent there is fine. Then another x amount of hrs to perth, (its def less time than it takes me to fly to Brisbane which is about 7hrs) then on to your Australian destination point. I also find the very best way to avoid jetlag when you arrive is to make sure your landing time into Australia is after 6pm. Travelling, especially with kids is very tiring, sleep is hard to come by so it's best to arrive later in the day. That way by the time you reach your accommodation, and maybe have a bite to eat, you'll all be very ready for bed, and as It'll be nearing bedtime here, you'll sleep soundly till morning. Thus avoiding too much jetlag. I'm so excited to watch your adventures unfold, please update us often. 😊 One last tip, my advice is to avoid Bangkok as a change over point. Its the worst airport ever and security is extremely tight, so the make you go thru very stringent and intrusive security screening several time while there! Its stressful enough without that addid stress, plus having kids. You'll be pulling your hair out in frustration!

I’m so thrilled for you guys!!! 🎉 PARTY TIME! My wife has just found a job that’s come up with her company in Melbourne and she’s just getting together her cover note to send off to them with her CV. I’m praying it works out for us as it’s been quite stressful trying to get a visa that we even have a fighting chance of getting. In terms of tips for the kids on the plane. Get plenty of snacks and mini games they can play. We have mini travel board games and puzzle games. I highly recommend getting up for regular walks up and down the plane with your kids. Our kids usually see other kids their age on the plane and end up playing with them a little. Last time we flew to Australia our 9 month old daughter she managed to kick my wife’s red wine all over the poor guy behind us. I thought he would be fuming be thankfully he was an absolute gent and said “don’t worry about it. I’ve got children too and will clean off.” Phew!!! Best of luck on your new adventure and start decluttering on Facebook marketplace to get them extra pennies in the bank to assist you with your move. Again I’m very excited for you all.
