I don’t think FEMA addresses demolition on private property. FEMA funds debris removal which presents a public health and safety risk. FEMA is not a universal solution to every aspect of a disaster - it is there to support (not resolve) specific needs. That’s not saying they did a good job in the areas they are supposed to be supporting.

@ Many are, and often the claims take many months to resolution. Others don’t have flood insurance. If you’re on the side of a mountain like I am, you don’t have flood insurance. But I do agree that FEMA support is intended for short term needs rather than long term.
