Your work with contrast is absolutely immense and these tutorials are hands down some of the best on KZbin, and the best when it's comes to contrast. Wolves are my army too, so loving this one 👍

@@Warhipster One question, is it necessary to varnish the figures which are painted with contrast paints? For example with Citadel Munitorum varnish? I do not want the color on my fingers again when playing. :)

I’m relatively new to Warhammer painting and models, I have limited time with the standard paints, but tried with the contrast ones. I really struggled with patchy surfaces on legs etc. You’ve shown me how to get over that massive bump, very much appreciated. You’ve made contrast paints look far easier and manageable to use than even the warhammer tv channel did. Liked and subscribed as the simplicity with what you do, the ease of explanation and accessibility was superb.

That wet blending on the fur seems to be exactly what contrast paints were made for. Amazing work, can't wait to try that technique myself! Thanks for the amazing video!
@Warhipster4 жыл бұрын
You are very welcome my man! I totally agree Contrast makes any wet blending very easy especially on the more organic surfaces of a model such as fur or even flesh.

This is a superb video for me to use for my first Space Wolf model. It’s consistently my go to whilst I’m painting Ragnar. Only the second time I’ve ever used contrast paints and I really like the effect they give once they’ve fully dried. I just think I need to better my technique with my brush. You seem to take your time whereas the official Warhammer videos show those guys just slapping the contrast on as quickly as possible
@Warhipster2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Sam! Slow and steady is very much the key to winning with Contrast, if you just yeet it on there you can end up with all sorts of blotching and unpleasantness.

Excellent as always, for me what I have held onto from this one is the fur painting, I think the colour contrast on this one is superior to your chaos Lord video, I really like wet is some kind of contrast wet blending method....great work and thank you.

Thanks for the in depth video! The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is the color of the pelt. A wolf from an icy world would have a white pelt, like tundra or polar wolves but not brown so I'm still thinking about how to best paint the pelt of my Ragnar. Besides that, really amazing video!

Love your videos and your stuff looks amazing! Can’t wait to follow the Teclis tutorial next :) Quick question regarding SW and contrast. On normal troops would you/do you think it’s worth the time to do the contrast medium and Russ grey or would you just stop with the contrast paint? Thanks for all of the fantastic content!
@Warhipster4 жыл бұрын
I've actually ordered the Space Wolves Combat Patrol to test this exact thing out and do a tutorial on the whole thing. My instinct is to say yes I would do it still but maybe only a little bit in certain areas to buff it right out. Watch this space it's coming soon!

Whoa very impressive work ! I still struggle on the patchy thing of space wolves grey (it seems easier on your blood angels video). But I keep trying, how you mix Russ Grey and contrat medium ? On a palette, in a pot ? 6:1, mean 6 dip of contrat and one dip of Russ ? Maybe a tutorial video ^^. Forgive my English and again, rly nice work !
@Warhipster4 жыл бұрын
Yeah so what I do is on the palette paper, I take 6 full brush loads of Contrast Medium, then I take a brush load of Russ Grey and mix it all together, sometimes it requires a little more Medium just to make sure it’s really thin almost like water but not quite.

I just saw it! He and I are fairly aligned in how we use Contrast Paints. It was a relief to know I was doing something right confirmed by the lord of layers himself!

U think I could use Lahmian medium instead of contrast medium? Also I'm not sure what you undercoated it with but do u think I could use corax white?
@Warhipster4 жыл бұрын
You could use Lahmian medium however Contrast Medium does do a better job of retaining the properties of Contrast. For your usual base and layer paints Lahmian is fine. I primed it with Grey Seer. You could use Corax White however your colours will come out a lot brighter.

@@Warhipster Okay I won't be doing that, I wouldn't mind it a little darker if anything.

It’s a combination of Small and Medium Layer brushes from games workshop and the occasional use of a Series M size 0 from Artis Opus
