How to control citrus gall wasp in Melbourne. Karen shows us how to prune to control and remove citrus galls from this finger lime, which galls must be cut out and which can be sliced open, exposing the wasps and saving the branch. Citrus Gall Wasp (Bruchophagus fellis) is a tiny native Australian wasp and the finger lime is its natural host. The wasp also lives in lemon, lime and other citrus trees. After the tree is inspected and the citrus galls removed, Karen hangs a new yellow sticky paper trap on the outside of the tree to catch any wasps blown in from the neighbourhood. The sticky paper trap is placed within an envelope of bird wire to stop any lizards or birds being accidentally caught. Karen recommends inspecting for citrus gall wasp every 1-2 months and changing the sticky paper at the same time.
