Honestly, Emily can be nuts but, i dont think shes wrong? She makes her goals and intentions clear. She wants a traditional life. She's upfront about it. Her unhealthy coping mechanisms are also very clear. She should work on them also. Shakeep is taunting her and leading her on, He says one thing to his gf and another to his mom. He goes behind both their backs and refuses to commit to either or himself. He doesnt respect either of them enough to be clear himself. The mom is wrong for meddling. I think Emily should just leave Shakeep. He makes her worse. Shes only with him because of the sunk cost fallacy and her traditional beliefs. I’m only half paying attention but at 56:30 I think Emily was right. Leila was clearly trying to pull manipulative strings to humiliate Emily, Emily points out that there’s no one that she’ll accept for her son. This says to me that Emily was calling her bluff, she brought competition to make her feel small and Emily sees right through the trick. She knows that even her competition isn’t good enough for Leila. I think her intial phrasing was imperfect but given her level of anxiety we’ve seen so far we need to be charitable about what she truly meant in a very stressful moment.

While not everything Emily does is right it is somewhat justified imo. She's being gaslit, manipulated and tormented by her boyfriend, her boyfriend's mom and the woman her boyfriend is cheating on her with. It's just this awful abusive cycle where everyone puts her in the most stressful and uncomfortable situations and then when they push her over the edge they say that's her "true colors". It's just despicable behavior and while some of the shit Emily said was gross too, I can't feel bad for anyone but her in this situation. She's constantly being put down and called crazy for stating her desires or even showing emotions and all the while her significant other is ignoring it at the best of times and feeding into it at worst. And then when he tries to apologize to her (for cheating!) he does it in the presence of a stranger to make her feel uncomfortable and unable to really respond and in a situation where she's already scared and anxious on top of it. Emily deserves a lot better than to be with any of these people tbh. I really want to believe this show was mostly fake but even if it was I still feel bad for the actor that played Emily.

I really feel for emily with her fear of horses and her reaction. I can't be anywhere near them anymore because of my fears. When I was younger I got tossed off the front of a horse and then trampled by it and I can't even THINK about going near a horse. I have many many fears some silly and some understandable- and if my boyfriend didn't clear horseriding with me and just dropped it on me and expected me not to have a panic attack on a horse- im dumping him. About the ring: I think Emily didn't express her feelings very well. But I also think the situation could be more nuanced. Like if this man constantly buys his mom really expensive gifts or goes all out for her, & then didn't do the same for his girlfriend when picking out her promise ring. I want to feel bad for Emily, but I can’t. Especially when she believes that not being married before 30 makes you a loser. This is why she’s putting up with Shekeb.
