Idk if this makes sense, but it's kind of a red flag to me that Colt will hook up with Vanessa who clearly has feelings for him, give her all the benefits of being a close friend, so on and so forth, but still pursue people from other countries with broken English. It feels to me, that he'd much rather be in a relationship he can control instead of being with someone on equal terms. It looks like he could have a good thing with Vanessa, and it's clear there's mutual attraction there, PLUS, being such a momma's boy, Vanessa is literally approved by his mom. But, he keeps sidelining her for random girls and I just don't get it. It feels really slimy. Almost like he hooked up with her because no one else would hook up with him.

@@karenl5971 while I agree the way they said it came off slightly weird, I think what they're getting at is that Colt is actively seeking out women who likely aren't able to communicate as well and are more likely to depend on him financially because it makes it easier to manipulate them. Like Vanessa despite being what he sort of wants (at least physically) seems well spoken and therefore Colt may think that she's more likely to stand up for herself and articulate her thoughts when he puts some bullshit. There's a horrible trend od men on these shows assuming that foreign women aren't smart purely because they can't speak English. Obviously that's bs but it is something that makes it easier to write the girl off as crazy or irrational when it doesn't work out.
@rhuntern2 жыл бұрын
@@karenl5971 First of all, the phrasing implies the people have broken english, not the countries. "People from other countries with broken english" is what I said. Not sure why you're interpreting that as me thinking that countries that don't speak english are "countries with broken english". Or, if I'm understanding the implication correctly, why you would believe that I think broken english is a bad thing. Not everyone can know every language, that shit is hard. No faults that way coming from me. Secondly, @Chai-Tea is correct. The point I was making is that Colt isn't really looking for a relationship, he's looking for someone he can take advantage of. I'm not judging the broken english, I'm judging Colt. He's taking advantage of potential communication issues. If you look at Vanessa, she's basically what he wants, plus she's already "approved" by his mom. So it's clear he could find someone in his area, even if it wasn't Vanessa. So, why go out to other countries, especially ones where English might not be the first language? Because he's looking for a power difference. It's scummy af, because it's also probably coming from a place of stereotypes and white-superiority. If anything, what I was saying has nothing to do with the women he seeks to date, and only has to do with him. I just find it really scummy how he, and most of the people I see from 90 Day Fiance, operate. They weird me out.

Keeping secrets in a relationships is manipulative, because your partner's choice to be with you is based on what they know about you. If you know that you did something that could end your relationship, because you crossed your partner's boundaries, you are manipulating them. Colt actually slept with Vanessa and used Jess just to get back at vanessa bc she started seeing someone new. So Jess all along was a toy to make Vanessa jealous and he also was cheating on Jess with Vanessa. The reason Vanessa herself has a hard time trusting Colt is because she has been the other woman in his life. We got to know these details later but Jess's rage is understandable to a great extent. She knew something was going on, he kept lying and something was going on. She is not right to have done or for saying that she will bang her ex, but what happened to her makes the reaction understandable. Not excusable.

With all due respect, we don't see the entire picture, but Colt was abusive and manipulative the entire relationship. She dropped everything to be with him, and it honestly seems like he pushed her to the edge (with all the cheating and his mom being an aggressor, as well).
