People don't understand that under that pink tutu there are guts of steel: the sacrifices, the commitment, the pain, the discipline it takes... Your opinion is NOT going to affect a person who survived ballet teachers.

Ditto (kinda). I'm vegan, celiac and recovering an'exic, so seeing the variety of food and how regularly you eat really reassures me when that voice, which still pops up occasionally, is encouraging me to not eat. Plus, so many recipe ideas! So please keep being you and posting like you do, the positive effect you're having is huge! Don't underestimate that, and ignore the boring people who have nothing better to do than troll online. I guess because ballet is a 'performance' and is designed to look effortless and graceful to an audience, people lose sight of the inherent athleticism. Just because the costumes are pretty and there's painted scenery, doesn't mean you aren't just as athletic as olympic gymnasts or marathon runners etc. And being vegan myself, I think it's easy to underestimate just how much food you need to eat to maintain decent calorie levels!

Lori, there are way too many people who love to create controversy as it brings them attention and control. If they can get someone else to react, they feel mighty important and powerful. I used to think ballerinas aren’t strong and they’re too feminine to join any other sport, but you have taught me otherwise. Your videos aren’t only fun to watch, but they are educational too. Just last night during dinner with my husband, I told him that I want our children to join ballet classes as soon as they start walking (if that’s possible). As a professional football player, he immediately rejected the idea. I showed him your videos and few other ballet dancers’ vlogs. I told him that these dancers may be thin, but they are hella strong and hella fit. Thank you for correcting me and for helping me expand my knowledge. 😊 Happy holidays!

I remember when we were preparing for our The Little Mermaid ballet production for two months of daily rehearsals all day 7 days a week and I had one of the lead roles so I rehearse the whole day close to midnight. My appetite increased a lot which surprised my parents, here I was, a 5’1” petite girl eating what my dad would consider 2 meals for construction workers in just 1 sitting and I still had room for deserts. That’s how hungry you get when all you do is physically challenging activities on a daily basis.

Girl lol! Wear a Fitbit for one of your dress rehearsals or even for a regular ballet class and share how many calories it thinks you burn. You have to burn something like 4500 calories on show nights. You absolutely couldn't do what you do and live without eating enough calories to sustain your body. Good morning! No doubt you're an athlete and you showing us those delicious meals, snacks, beverages you make and buy and then eating them for all of us to vicariously enjoy with you is education! We can see a ballerina eating nutritious and delectable foods! I feel like it is a delightful experience that we get from you showing snippets of your cool lifestyle, professional work, and the foods you choose to purchase and then being confident enough to show you eating them on camera. You clearly are eating those things. What is the disbelief about and people calling you liar for? What, do they think it's CGI editing you've done to depict you eating? Crazy! Anyway, the things you eat are inspiring because it looks so good, and its relatively healthy foods you are consuming day in day out. I've gotten some tips from you on nutritious snacks and meals to try. I would love to see you do a long form video about this "controversial subject" and discuss the healthy ballet athletes dieting practices from your perspective, especially for sharing your advice as a dancer who is vegan and what your favorite things to eat are if you could have it all the time and then show us how you make that. Good luck with your last 2 performances in SD today Lori! ❤💐🩰🩰🩰

I mean to be fair A LOT of fitness influencers and weight loss channels do that. But obviously that's not the part of KZbin you are on and it is ridiculous to critique someone's eating habits, especially the ones from professional athletes

You go through the same thing as a professional musician, athlete, artist, ballerina etc. or ANYWHERE you have to put in THE WORK to transform yourself into the brightest, shining and most excellent star… These are not paths for the faint of heart! Jealous people (aka those afraid to do the work) can sense when someone IS doing THE WORK, and their jealous, destructive speech will reflect it… Let POSITIVE, CONSTRUCTIVE LIFE GIVING ENERGY CONTINUE TO HELP DRIVE TOWARDS DOING THE WORK OF TRANSFORMING INTO THE HIGHEST BRIGHTEST MOST POTENT AND ALIVE VERSION OF SELF!

I just assume you try to squeeze in as much as you can because I'm sure the outfits are tight and bodies change after meals or even time constraints! Personally, I can't workout right after eating; I legit wait two hours before I can workout. You posted a video earlier saying you were gonna eat something then go straight to dancing. I thought that was so cool and badass. I throw up even with light cardio right after a meal. I can't imagine going straight into dancing right after a meal. What you do is art and the prep throughout everything is admirable. It shows the discipline, dedication, and overall athleticism to be able to do such tasks. You're so awesome! Keep doing you!

What athlete and professional dancer would be able to expend so much energy each day to such a high standard without good nutrition and calories?
@gnostic26812 сағат бұрын
There are professional dancers and athletes who have EDs. Gelsey Kirkland wrote about her experiences in her book. Lori apparently does not have an unhelathy relationship with food which is good. My granddaughters who just turned 6 and 7, have been sponsored by the Maria Tallchief Foundation in Oklahoma. They want them to recreate the sister ballerinas dynamic that Maria and Marjorie Tallchief had. They were supposed to do a photo shoot for Dance Magazine but the magazine told my older granddaughter who was 6 at the time, that she needed to lose "at least 8 pounds" before they could photograph them. My older granddaghter is tall and almost as big as her older brother who is 9. She is also a leukemia survivor which she was diagnosed with at 18 months. She is a head taller than her sister and is built tall and lanky like her father whereas her younger sister is very petite like her mother. The fact that a Dance magazine would encourage dieting in a 6 year old who is healthy and athletic is part of the problem in the ballet world which was encouraged by Maria Tallchief's first husband, George Balanchine. Gelset Kirkland and many others in the NYC Ballet have spoken out about this. My granddaughters have backed way out of the ballet scholarships sponsored by the Tallchief Foundation and have taken up swimming. Lori is the picture of health but there is an English ballerina who trained with Vaganova and has a KZbin channel Ballet with Isabella and she has spoken about her ED which caused her bones to become very fragile and she is recovering from injuries from her bone fragility and ED..
@BeccaB78912 сағат бұрын
Affirmative. Dancers need food for energy in order to dance. They'll burn calories that way. Without food, instead of burning calories, they're starving.
@MochiTheAxolotl6914 сағат бұрын
I believe you, it seems a reasonable amount, it makes sense, you always mention eating those same foods. I will say, there definitely are people on the internet lying about what and how much they eat. The latest few I can think of, they were all trying to sell some stupid (and dangerous!) diet plan, saying they stuck to it and were “super healthy” etc, but it’s obviously it’s not true, and what they said made no sense, some were stupid enough to accidentally prove themselves liars lol
