@deanronson63313 жыл бұрын
As an extremely talented cook, he's able to beat most challengers even at their signature ethnic dishes he'd never cooked before. Reasons why? He wins on taste, and that's what the judges in a blind taste test are looking for. Besides, his guest cooks are always trying to be extravagant and do too much in the limited time they have, so they make crucial mistakes.
@jamesforbes28713 жыл бұрын
@@deanronson6331 ... Exactly. Flay knows that the secret to winning is keeping to the script and not playing too far outside the box. If you are making a classic dish ... make something that t least resembles it in taste. Sometimes calling it "deconstructed" just doesn't cut it, so Flay beats them with something 'properly constructed'.
@deanronson63313 жыл бұрын
@@jamesforbes2871 I'm not sure I follow. Are you talking about Beat Bobby Flay? On that show, most of the time, Bobby's making dishes he's never made before in his life or maybe once or twice. He can't afford to experiment with such unfamiliar fare. Therefore, he tries to get as close to the authentic dish as he knows how, relying on his hard-to-beat talent of extracting flavor, his superior experience in competitive cooking on TV, and sense of timing. His competitors often come close but then make that little mistake that sink them with the jury. When he was cooking on Iron Chef, the idea of that show was to be as creative, original, and experimental as possible, so he was going for those criteria full blast and mostly winning.
@jamesforbes28713 жыл бұрын
@@deanronson6331 ... I was a cook many years ago. Either the "game" is what you can invent on your own (Iron Chef), which requires a special kind of talent and much experimentation, instinct and luck ... or you stick to the "rules" of classic cooking technique. 'La Repertoire do la Cuisine' provides most of the basics and expected ingredients. In Beat Bobby Flay, the challenger offers the challenge. All cooks know what they are, even if they have never cooked them. If I have tasted a dish, I can recreate it almost exactly. The judges have that taste, look and feel in their minds, going in. That gives Flay a subtle advantage. I usually know the outcome well before the judging ... but always after the comments.
@jamesforbes28713 жыл бұрын
@@deanronson6331 ... I had some further ideas about Flay's success. I know how he does if. He doesn't have the near god-like culinary skills of many Iron Chefs. He has high intellect, an excellent palate and an impressive "nose" for building flavour. It's a kind of intuition ... like a musician with tastes. He has the 'touch'. That can't be taught in culinary school. One simply knows when the flavours are right.

So desecration of Native American burial grounds is apparently just not important then? Not paying employees what they deserve, or respecting them in a workplace? Cheating on every single person you've ever been with? All ok to you. As long as a person is rich enough right?

This dude cant cook, it was all rigged so he can win. Just look at the presentation and how it would really taste like. Jusf bad.

I dont watch this show anymore because the first juges cheat!! they go and taste the guys stuff then give hints outloud to Body right there waiting for it. like oh it's good and smoky and other stuff like this. So in cooking langage this means add peanut butter because that makes it smoky etc... wich Bobby does and all this helps him win when he should loose. NOT COOL!! I have seen this done too many times on this show. If you dont know what to do to win the fare way then take the loss Bobby, don't cheat!

I am in the business, there are always assholes in the kitchen, plus alcohol, drugs, this is icing on the cake, if people really knew the people cooking for them in the fancy restaurants, it would be a whole different shit show haha!

Why would the restaurant customers care about the moral profiles of the cooking staff?

@@m.walker7907 You're giving me one single example to bolster your cockamamie thesis? If we fired all the kitchen staff given to alcohol and drugs, half of the restaurants would have to close down. If we did the same to all employed Americans, the country would have to close down.
