Thank you! after reading about John 3 i tried to explain this to my stepson once again but he is spiritual and thinks you have to terry at the "altar" in order to receive the Holy Spirit. Really good teaching. I like to do word studies in the Strong’s cause I cannot speak the original languages. God is omnipresent. He knows both the beginning and the end and everything between. What really amazes me about that is He knew all of the trouble with mankind to come before He ever created us. Wow! That means that the end must be really good!

I respect your position greatly. I don’t know if Mr. Minor will see your reply so, since I have and share his perspective, would you allow me to respond? 1) the grammar of John 3:16 lines up with what Corey said. God DOES love the human race! No one denies that. The issue comes up when we interpret the b) and c) clauses incorrectly. The WAY God loved the world was by sending the Son. That’s true- but the ones who receive eternal life are the believing ones. That’s why we have the “so that..” in clause c). 2) If you listened to the entirety of Corey’s argument, you would hear him say that God commands the Israelites to “circumcise (their) hearts.” They never do though! Some believe for a while, as long as they have a sign to follow, but soon afterwards, they turn away. The ones who DO follow still have to have their sins atoned for every year because they don’t have a PERMANENT method to save them. Therefore, God promises to circumcise their hearts HIMSELF. This necessarily means that they have nothing to do with it, right? The passages from Jeremiah and Ezekiel which Mr. Minor then connected give more evidence to that- GOD is the one changing the heart and CAUSING people to follow Him. He does still command people to follow Him but it doesn’t negate the previous statements. He actively commands them to follow Him AND promises that one day, He will change their hearts so that they WILL- permanently. That’s why John 3 is interpreted the way Corey does- because here Jesus is actually telling Nicodemus what He is going to do. He is going to die, providing a way of permanent salvation for all who will believe; the Spirit is going to to convict the sinner, while the Father dares him to the Son. His heart is changed CAUSING him to believe. Do we have to believe? Absolutely! WILL we believe unless God chases us to? For a while maybe, but unless He changes our hearts, we won’t KEEP following. That’s really the point Corey is making. It doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t be humble or that we aren’t responsible for what we do. It just means that God works a miracle in the heart of sinners and saves them.

"the Spirit is going to to convict the sinner," In Acts 2:37-38 After hearing Peter speak verse 37 Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart....Then verse 38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. It seems from these verses that those gathered hearing Peter were convicted before receiving the Holy Spirit.

Corey, you may say a million times you are not a calvinist, but you just taught it in this video in the name of John 3. Please listen to Dr Leighton flowers soteriology 101 in order to disabuse yourself of calvinism. Observe how you read calvinism into John1:12-13. You are simply regurgitating calvinist talking points in this video, period. No true believer, believes he saved himself, that's the strawman ( misrepresentation) by Calvinists to justify their error. The other thing is stop trying to act as though you are the first person to understand greek and hebrew. How do you think the english versions of the bible came to be? You can't insist that you believe the king james and then seek to always read it alongside greek as though the translation was mistranslated. Your commentory gives the impression that you think that a Christian needs to understand greek in the face of all the scholarly translations at our disposal. To me, this is close to nosticism.

Here is a major problem with what you said and your buddy Leighton, to be a Calvinists would mean you were influenced by Calvin or his teaching. You and Leighton are implying that we cannot read the bible and come up with some of the same conclusions the Calvin taught. He just read the scripture an explained what it meant, you were the one the heard Calvin in it because you are fixated in what you believe, If God cannot touch what you believe he does not have all of your heart, mind and soul. God should have a right to touch anything about you including what you believe. Just because you don't like does not mean it is not God, It seems as though you don't like who God is. This is simply the Sacrament of Baptism, which is the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit for it signifies and brings about the birth of water and the Spirit without which no one can enter the Kingdom of God. Titus 3:5. John 3:5.

Did you read Ezekiel 36:25-27, did you read what Jesus said in John the third chapter, Jesus first said you must be born from water and spirit and then he said the same thing differently he said you must be born again he turned around and said it’s a third time a little differently all meaning the same thing you must be born from above you can’t cause yourself to be born from above only God can.

@@RenardGarzaro Acts 22 is Paul's conversion in detail. It has Jesus himself confronting Paul about his sin/error. It has Paul acquiescing to Jesus' authority. It has Paul obeying Jesus' instruction. It has Paul fasting and praying for three days. I has Paul having healing hands placed on him to receive his sight. It has Ananias preaching to him. Even after all those things any one of which has been suggested by men to be what saves... and yet Ananias told Paul that he was still laden with sin and to cast those sins off in baptism... calling (appealing to God) on the name of the Lord. It is through baptism that we step into the new spiritual life in Christ.

Above means God does it, Jesus was referencing Ezekiel 37:25-27 when talking to Nicodemus about being born again, born from water and spirit and born from above, Jesus used all of these phrases when talking to Nicodemus. Jesus was astonished that Nicodemus did not understand because it was written. In order to be born again God said he would wash you with water put his spirit in you and cause you to walk in his ways, please these scripture. Notice the Active/Passive, God was the one active and Israel was passive, he never asked them to change their heart, he said he would change it, they never asked for a new heart, they did not know their heart was bad, they proved they could/would not continually chose or keep his commandments. God causes them to do so. Not may words but God's.
