He just gave a HUGE piece of advice that applies to ALL pipe welding. Put as heavy a cap as you are allowed, get used to doing that, and make it normal practice.

TUBE, its a part of a unit (heater, evaporator, heat exchanger, condenser, etc.) Pipe, if used as a stand alone structure.
