I have even more respect for this man after this interview. He's just 100% genuine without any of the pretentiousness we've come to expect from actors.

He's like one of the old movie stars of yesteryear. A great talent and a very intelligent man.

I think in small venues, audience reactions always seem a bit over-the-top. Thanks for posting this Oldman interview. Since becoming a cinephile, Oldman has been my #1 favorite thespian.

This gives me hope in pursuing one of my dreams which is to become a voice actress. :'> I'm an English major with theatre and drama subjects. I'm most likely going to end up a professor but I really want to give life to characters one day...through voice or writing..like Gary. ;w; He was a shy and quiet child too..ahh Gary my love I understand u///u

Retkiapina - you're absolutely spot on. He IS a very interesting person, as far as he lets us know...... and I think he is the best English-speaking actor alive. Brando always played Brando to some extent, but Gary Oldman plays the parts and in elaborating them, loses his own identity (at least as much of it as we understand from good interviews). One thing that does bug me is the way The Scarlet Letter has been practically wiped from his filmography. He plays this part so beautifully......

He is Mark Rylance. Just an interesting trivia: he played the lead in the movie 'Intimacy', but the director originally wanted Gary Oldman for the role.

I'm guessing that the only thumbs-down on this video is because of the volume level

I'm English and he cracked me up on the Cream joke, but yes the Americans do tend to be obsequious or maybe it's they're are more vocal with their enthusiasm not sure.

......even if the script has been criticized for so deviating from Hawthorne's book. As a woman of around the same age as Oldman, I would love to see him in another sensitive and sensuous role.....The best part of this film? (no, really, there are too many best parts)....is when he withdraws from kissing Hester for the first time ("Nay, we could both be hanged for this")...sizzling...one of his best roles - many critics were too influence by Oldman and Moore's previous film roles (the idiots!)

If he's not tired of playing musicians, I think he's a dead ringer for Eric Clapton.

Why is it a shame? So everyone is supposed to live a pristine life, never make any mistakes, be perfect all the time. Well I guess Pacino is a shame also because he had a drinking problem. What about Robert Downey, Jr.? Without drugs and booze all movies would suck.

Such a pretty, personable, open host. If she would lose about 200 lbs. she would get more work.
