They never flip through a Bible long enough or with enough attentiveness to actually 1.) find out about the contradictions and mandated killings in the Bible and 2.) even if they found it, their explanation of why it’s in there and what it means is skewed by church leaders. “It’s out of context” or “it was a different time with different objective morality” no matter if they have scriptural or real world evidence or not.

"Haven't you read my book?" Most people in history: "I can't read."
@charlestownsend92807 ай бұрын
@Talk-jn7xo that's true according to modern Christian theology but the Bible never makes any clause for those who don't believe and have never heard or babies and children, just the blanket statement that the only way to avoid hell is believing in Jesus. The idea that those who never heard about the right god automatically get a free pass is one of the many things Christianity has added to what they claim is the perfect word of god, because it's the 9nly way the system isn't completely immoral and ridiculous, although it does kind of make the concept of evangelism and spreading the religion completely self defeating, and also jesus in general.
@charlestownsend92807 ай бұрын
@Talk-jn7xo context shows that he is specifically speaking to the pharisees, not everyone in general. But even if he wasn't that would then contradict the bible when it says that the only way the heaven is through Jesus, therefore belief in Jesus, as was told to everyone in general, is required. Except what I said does make sense. If not knowing means that people can get into heaven then why tell anyone about God? Why spread the message of Jesus? If people don't know then they get in and if they do know but aren't convinced then they go to hell. If it works how you say then the best option would be for Christians to never tell people about Jesus. Maybe what I said isn't the thing that doesn't make sense but instead the ridiculous requirement to get into heaven, which isn't based on what people do or why they do it but whether or not they've heard a story and accepted it without evidence that doesn't make any sense. Also I'm as scared of ending up in hell as I am of bad afterlifes of every other religion. And if a God does turn out to exist and it is the Christian god and I do meet them and they do ask me why (even though they're all knowing so they don't need to ask anything, although that also ruins free will) then I'll say that I didn't believe in them for the same reason I don't believe in any other God or ghosts or magic or psychics or that crystals can heal or alien abductions or that the earth is flat and if God wanted me to believe and is all knowing and all powerful then they could have easily convinced me and I would have believed, so the fault there is with him, instead God chose to give exactly the same evidence as every other religion in history.
@charlestownsend92807 ай бұрын
@Talk-jn7xo right, so if you take the view that those who don't know about god still go to heaven (despite the few verses not really proving that and being contradicted by the whole point of Jesus being so that people can go to heaven through him and the bible saying that the 0nly way to heaven is through him) then the church and Christians telling people about god and Jesus and giving everyone bibles and knocking on their doors and yelling on the streets and trying to get their religion taught in schools alongside established facts, etc is making people go to hell and if they didn't do that then more people would end up in heaven. So on your argument it would be better if Christianity disappeared because then no one would go to hell for not blindly believing a crazy unproven story from a book of myths and fairytales that constantly gets history and science wrong. That is the logical conclusion to your argument. Although if you're argument is correct I'm now baffled by the point of Jesus if people can just already go to heaven. What is the point of telling someone like me about Jesus? Apparently I was already going to heaven but now cause I've been told about Jesus and just won't believe any crazy story someone tells me, like ghosts, alien abductions, flat earth, anti vax, crystal healing, or what any other religion claims from their book of myths and fairytales, I'm now doomed to be tortured forever by an all loving god. It barely made any sense beforehand (god having to kill himself to stop himself from torturing people forever because of the rules he made knowing that they wouldn't be able to follow them but it 9nly works if they believe it), now the entire religion makes even less sense and has damned more people to hell than it has saved.
@charlestownsend92807 ай бұрын
@Talk-jn7xo did i trigger you by pointing out that your argument makes the entire religion self defeating? Cause your response doesn't address my point. So an all knowing and all powerful god can't convince everyone that they exist? Not a very impressive god, sounds more like one that doesn't exist or seems less capable than a regular person. Most people who don't believe in god would probably believe if god just appeared and said hi I exist, yet instead god decides to play the longest game of hid3 and seek while getting annoyed at people not believing in them, like some kind of stalker. Or is it a no free will thing (which can't exist if god is all knowing), do the people who god knows won't believe have any choice in the matter? How does god determine that they wouldn't believe? And how do you know that is how god does things? If it's not a choice then that doesn't make god look good. If god provided the evidence I'd happily believe, just like how I'd believe in ghosts or big foot if any evidence was provided of their existence. But there's also a difference between believing and worshipping or following them. But if god does exist and wants me to know that they exist then my lack of belief is entirely their fault, just luke how it's not the person you like at work fault for not liking you back if you never speak to them or let them know that you exist.
@prophecybydefault47086 ай бұрын
@Talk-jn7xo You haven't even addressed anything he's said let alone debunked anything. He asked you if people who haven't heard of the bible still go to heaven and if the answer is yes, why spread the gospel if it actively reduces the chances of people getting into heaven? Isn't that contradictory and paradoxical?

+Anthony Mercadante Look, I don't think anyone argues that there are truly amazing things in the universe. The laws of physics and mathematics that from the basics work without fail, logic and life, and much of the natural construction and of the beauty of much of the world. These are truly marvelous things -- the existence of life itself here is like a miracle. But! For all that there are perfect and well-ordered things that exist beyond human knowledge and comprehension in the natural world, we also know of the far greater number of imperfections. The male reproductive system is designed to enable a single male to impregnate hundreds of thousands if not millions of women a day, yet it is sinful to waste seed, have sex before marriage, or for a man to have sex with anyone other than his wife. Yet this is all by some intelligent design. All right. What about the natural tendency towards entropy? You can clean your house and it will get dirty again without you even trying to dirty it again. An untended garden or abandoned house will continue to be reclaimed by the wild nature from which it came. And evolution favors the positive mutations that enable reproductions of a species, this is known -- but what is often overlooked is that a great many malignant mutations occur as well that will doom the creatures at hand. The chance that a man falls into a radioactive toxic waste vat and emerges with any super-abilities is a statistically much lower chance than winning the lottery, by several magnitudes. Evolution doesn't appear to be intelligently guided at all -- it's purely based on luck. And what about quantum physics and mathematics? Some equations that haven't been disproven seem to insinuate that a particle can physically be in more than one place at once, a concept which in itself makes almost no sense at all. And the realm of quantum physics spreads far greater than the knowledge we have of all of our accumulated science and math. For every thing you can find that seems truly amazing as a sign of some greater divine law and order, you find so much more with natures that are inherently chaotic! But Christians ignore the chaotic part. They want to cherry-pick and defend their religion by pointing to all of the good things that happen, while dismissing the obviously more morally reprehensible sections of their Bible. But they have to realize that if their creator God truly is responsible for the creation of everything and is omnipotent and omniscient and whichever else, that that God is just as responsible for the bad things that happen as the good! Yeah, yeah, sure, there's the Devil... But God created the Devil and he didn't have to do that... He didn't have to put evil around... But that's not a rabbit hole I feel like going down today. When a plane crashes with 200 people in it and 199 of them die and 1 baby survives, Christians will say hallelujah and praise their God to be responsible for saving the miracle child that lives through the crash. Does it occur to no one that God could have prevented the whole crash in the first place? And that if he chose not to, and deliberately killed off 199 people, that constitutes a tragedy and an act of violence? Why would a loving God command the vast majority of things he's stated to command? People are really just thanking the tyrant they fear for sparing someone from his wrath rather than just killing everyone. And as a reward for believing in God and doing as God commands, you get to go to a place where you can keep serving God in this capacity forever. Because it's supposed to be an honor. You're rewarded for your worship by getting to worship and do more work once you're dead, or you're punished with a lake of fire. An intelligent designer apparently made something this convoluted and unfair sounding because he loves us... uh huh... Anyways. My point is that there are many things you can point to that are NOT intelligently designed at all as well wherever you go. If there is in fact a God that created everything, he is just as responsible for the shitty designs as he is for the brilliant ones. And why would he have shitty designs in the first place if he's omniscient? You can easily arrive at all sorts of paradoxes with God in this manner.

There is a big possibility that Allah and Yahweh is the same guy, I mean Quran has so many similarities with the bible, that is not so hard to assume Yahweh and Allah are the same.. And the Christ is really not the same guy as Yahweh that is bullshit, no word indicates in the original languages even Yahweh is not mentioned in the New Testament.. Although the Jesus story is probably made up and also note that the bible doesn't really say Yahweh is the supposed creator of the Universe, it was Elohim if you look to hebrew, Elohim meaning GOD (s) Yahweh is always translated as ''the LORD'' not as God.. so..

The fact of the matter is this: Most people don't have a choice in what they will believe in. Most people grow up in churches and into certain religions. They develop the same belief system as their parents due to not being able to make that choice for themselves. Because this belief system poisons their minds, their critical thinking, logic, and rationalism suffer as a result of blind faith. Then once they are challenged on their faith, they use the same answers and word play that they were taught to use by people who believe the same thing. Most religious people don't even pick their book up to read it. And when they do, they only read the "good" parts and not the bad parts. They read the same chapters and verses over and over again instead of the ones that actually expose theit religion. Sin according to their bible and their own logic is disobedience to this deity yahweh right? It's a choice that's neither right nor wrong. Yes we all have consequences to our actions, but just because something has a bad consequesnce doesn't mean that the action is wrong. The consequence for being in the army is that you can die. That's a bad consequence for a choice that is neither right nor wrong. If I tell my kid not to jump out into the street when a car comes by, I'm going to make sure he doesn't do it because he will die right in front of me and that will make me responsible. Not him. So if i save him, i can't punish him because he didn't listen. If i tell my kid that he has a choice of whether or not he wants to eat his veggies, and i give good and bad consequences to a neutral choice, then that negates the point of giving a free choice. You can't give good or bad consequences to a neutral choice. "Worship me and go to heaven. Don't worship me and go to hell." "Believe in me and go to heaven. Don't believe in me and go to hell". So basically what religious people argue is that it is morally wrong to not believe in something and give it worship. That's according to their own logic. So basically they admit that they see non belief as morally wrong, thus making the bad consequences that come with it just and reasonable. But how do you believe that something is morally wrong when it doesn't cause chaos? It's not a violent decision that is detrimental in any way, shape, or form. And people who believe in a "god" as the only one true "god", then they are mentally delusional and need mental evaluations.

Who ever wrote that god doesn't send people to hell, they chose to go there has not read their bible very closely. In most every scripture in the New Testament that talks about people going to hell, it is explicit that god sends them. Matt. 10:28 makes it clear that god casts people in. Read Jesus' parables about weeping and gnashing of teeth in the outer darkness. In these parables, god judges people and has his servants cast people into this outer darkness. Read Revelation about the final judgment, people are cast into the lake of fire, not jumping in. Nice job trying to get your god off the hook, but your bible disagrees with you.
@chasetharington663010 жыл бұрын
Its not there sin that we get punished for its ours. "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" here is a example of why God cant just forgive everyone. If me and you were involved in a court case where a school shooter comes in our children's class room and kills them. All of its on video and the person who committed the crime has admitted and at the sentencing the judge just says, well, free to go have a nice day! What! We would be outraged and thus have a real reason to hate that judge. But if the Perfect judge of all the universe doesn't he's a monster. That's why Jesus had to die. he took our punishment on himself and it was okay for God to acquit him after he took our punishment, because he was innocent and still allowing his judgement to be Perfect
@timrichardson401810 жыл бұрын
chase tharington Yes, we would be outraged at a criminal like that being let go with no justice, yet that is exactly what Christianity offers. Even the worst child rapist and murder can merely repent (sincerely intend never to do it again) and believe the right things about Jesus, and he faces no punishment for his crime. It is outrageous. On the flip side, another person who's worst offense in his life was stealing a package of bubble gum, even though he felt remorse, will burn in hell for all eternity because he never believed the right things about Jesus. This is not justice my friend. Any system that rewards and punishes not based on actions but on belief is definitively unjust.
@timrichardson401810 жыл бұрын
chase tharington Also, justice is fitting the punishment to the crime. Eternal conscious burning in hell for just ANY sin is not justice. God sends people to hell for all eternity for limited and finite crimes in a comparatively short life. This is the epitome of disproportionate punishment and injustice to the point that it is cruel. If your child "sinned" against you, no matter how bad the offense, you will likely punish him, but you wouldn't build a fire pit and roast him in it forever because he never "repented."
@timrichardson401810 жыл бұрын
Tim Richardson And any parent who would do so would rightly be viewed as cruel and unloving toward his child
@timrichardson401810 жыл бұрын
Tim Richardson also, punishing an innocent person, even if that person is the judge, for someone else's crime is not justice either. It is injustice twice! Once for not appropriately sentencing the guilty party, and again for punishing an innocent person. This is called scapegoating, and there is nothing just about it because it removes responsibility from the guilty person and puts in on an innocent. If the goal of justice is rehabilitation and changing people for the better, which it is, then the Christian system is not it. It circumvents justice and allows people to never take ultimate responsibility for their actions. You say we would be outraged at a judge who would let such a guilty person go free. Yes! Yes we would! But Christianity teaches that god does that very thing.

The idea of sacrificing oneself TO oneself to atone for a "crime" supposedly committed by a person's ancestors is completely bonkers! I ESPECIALLY like it how NonStampCollector points out how impossible it is to believe something based on no evidence whatsoever. I couldn't believe in God if I tried! Except it wasn't for 'one's appeasement but for the redemption from the sin of one's creation. Plus, the crime that's committed by the ancestors isn't the crime you're judged on bc everyone has sinned. We also gave up on giving evidence when skeptics couldn't accept a reality in which God existed and dismissed everything. Also, you're mixing up paganism with monotheism, Zeus is presented as fiction and has a specific purpose and God isn't fitted to one specific purpose i.e he's not exclusively the God of the sky.

He never acted as such, and I’m assuming your taking all the Old Testament as your source for that. Well I think it’s pretty obvious, that most people are ignorant to know what he meant/intended. When you ever come to the conclusion he was “evil”. Also in order to bring Jesus to earth, and get what he needed done to save humanity. He chose to act accordingly in the OT. We don’t know if there was a way that was more obvious, and less destructive as to which he could have acted, but I think we can conclude that he got his mission done so far.

Imagine if I ate an apple from a random man's plot of land, and he cloned himself and then killed that clone instead of calling the cops and having me imprisoned for theft. Then he insisted all of my future progeny worship him every day of their lives, to stave off being imprisoned for that one act of theft which I alone committed. And THEN, outside of that, idiots from all over the world would put together the argument I just made, only to respond, "durrr something from nothing herp derp" as if that specifically proves the single religion I just proved to be nonsensical, Christianity, is correct as opposed to mere deism. That's the world we've live in for two millennia. Fuck.

You tell that to a christian and he'll be like "Ah tet tet tet, that was the OLD testament. The new testament doesn't have that". And then you recall that it starts with a guy getting nailed to a cross and spending 3 days in hell and you say "Yeaaaaaaah...right" and then you drop the subject and leave before the madman before you starts getting violent.

This guy that made these videos have a very deep understanding of the bible...I was raised christian and it took me a while to figure that it didnt make any sense. It never ocurred to me that god was jesus, and that if jesus died for us, then it was god sacrificing himself to himself. I was taught this was love and I believed it, until I started to read the bible and thought: wow, god is not exactly what I thought he was!

@@ro.m.6432 False equivalency. You can be grateful to your parents for giving you life, without loving them or their abuse. It takes a while to heal from the abuse, though. Why do you think a god wants to abuse us?
@shugyosha7924 Жыл бұрын
My biggest criticism has always been, if God is omnipotent and created the universe, then he was completely unconstrained. There was no reason to create a system where free will also requires the existence of evil, or where people through their ignorance condemn themselves to torture. If any parent decided to make such weird and cruel situations for their children we wouldn't forgive it, and parents are imperfect and constrained. There's just no excuse if you then go on to say that God is perfect and unconstrained and does it to all humanity. But somehow God is both omnipotent and constrained, so that it didn't have to be this way yet also has to be this way, and we just can't understand it because we're not God.
