The spacers do not compress the spring. The spacer is bolted to the top of the struts then bolted to the bucket. The ride is affected by altered angles, not spring compression. You do not need a spring compressor to replace struts. Un bolt, the uca and sway bar ends pry down on lower control arm.
@Delfi1900 Жыл бұрын
When you replace the stock struts with pre-loaded ones it will make your ride stiffer especially if you use your stock coils because your coils will now be compressed at all times giving you a stiffer ride, when you keep the original struts and add an extension (spacer) on top it will keep your original stock ride quality,,,

It’s my understanding that the 4” lift and 6” lift drop brackets and spindles are the same. The difference is the lift blocks
@michaelhenderson3665 Жыл бұрын
There is definitely wrong info here. The spacer on this lift does NOT affect preload like a leveling kit would. No different than the extended struts he is running. This because these kits come with all of the brackets necessary to keep everything to factory like spec

Glad you liked the video! The winch is an easy fit as long as you have the 5.0 v8. You can't do this with the ecoboost as the intercooler lines are routed through this area. I have another video explaining this.

Sorry to ask you this but I saw your video and I am very interested in the idea of converting the 4 "to 6" I have a Ford F150 2012 with 4 "rough country lift kit and I want to put it to 6" Call rough country because it is a special order I received the parts to convert to 6 "but they sent me some spacers that measure 4" and try to install it but the height of the shock absorbed and the spacers together are too high for put it back
@chevsuz124 жыл бұрын
Rough Country uses the same drop bracket for both the 4" and 6" lifts. The only difference on the front is the shock spacers. If you already have the 4" installed, and you wish to convert to 6", all you need to do is order the 6" lifted strut found here: www.roughcountry.com/premium-n3-lifted-struts-500055.html?find=2012-ford-f-150-4wd-375095. You will remove the spacer and oem struts. Install new lifted strut. DO NOT USE A SPACER. That's it! you will now have a 6" lift! You will need to get another alignment though. In one of my other videos, I review the Rough Country 5.5" rear lift blocks. You will need to call RC to request this item as for some reason it is not listed on their website. That's all that is needed!

Leveling kit, I have a 6 inch lift and putting a 2 inch level on it, I got the whole strut from rough country
@mrchopboogie3 жыл бұрын
A spacer does not compress the coil spring any further than stock. It just spaces the truck higher on top of the spring. The weight of the truck compresses the spring. It’s the same compressed length stock and with the the spacer. Heavier wheels and tires and the suspension working at different angles caused the harder ride. Upgrading those coil over shocks created the better ride.

@chevsuz122 жыл бұрын
No, you do not. The 4" lift will come with a 2" spacer as it will level the truck. Personally, I do not like a levelled truck. So to maintain the rake, I went with the 6".

Spreading bs! The rougher ride comes from the changed angles. You aren't compressing anything with the spacer on top. Measure your coilover with the spacer on and off and you'll see. I quite enjoy my torsion bars lol 😂
@chevsuz12 Жыл бұрын
you may be correct, but I can tell you with certainty that those longer struts made that truck drive much better than using the spacer/shock combo. Perhaps it was just a better shock. Either way, I have moved on from the F150 and now have a Jeep. Take care.
@jfriske68344 жыл бұрын
You basically just swapped the upper spacer to the lower part of your strut. Taking out the upper spacer, and replaced with lower longer strut and reused your stock coil. Waste of money in my opinion.
@chevsuz124 жыл бұрын
Perhaps, but in my situation, the $215 cost of the 6" lifted struts allowed me to replace the old worn out factory struts and convert from a 4" to a 6" lift. I say, money well spent!
