Hello tube of YOU! This video is showing you all my home. Yes, its not a typical home but it is my home. About Me: My name is Joey Smithey. I am 31 years young. 11 years down in the military, 9 to go. I have experienced the housing crisis in California and I enjoyed it so much I am doing it again in North Carolina. I have lived in a truck before, a cargo van, a 2008 4Runner, a travel trailer, and now living in my 2016 Toyota 4Runner. Love this! I am collecting ideas to do a simple camping conversion on my 4Runner. want it to be functional and not over-the-top and too much obvious showy overland stuff. I’m not really trying to go stealth per se, but I want the rig to look basically stock at first glance. You’ve done a great job here with a functional DIY build that has everything you need and nothing you don’t. Well done, sir!

@@smitheys I have a 07 4Runner, Thinking of removing the rear Seats and turn it into a little Camper for my road trips with my 2 Chihuahuas! I was thinking of buying a tear drop but they are hard to find and expensive, besides, I am not comfortable with towing a camper! Thanks again for the Ideas.

The glove box organizer is a must have. You don't realize how much space is in that compartment until you get an organizer.

With the crazy prices on vehicles right and the inflation, I'm just trying to save enough to pay cash or putting a larger down payment on the table. The average price for a 5th gen around here under 170,000 miles is 25-30k! I know it's not alot, but I'm a slave to commoner's wages..☠

That is the cleanest, neatest setup I've seen. Nicely done. When I go for an adventure in my 4Runner it's packed to the gills on the inside and the Gobi roof rack is full too.

Very impressive!! I have. a 2019 Runner and I am in the process of a “no build” van set up for camping in mine!! My bed is a foldable cot and soft deflate-able kind of memory foam mattress(very comfy!). But! Basically the same kind of set up! Have fun and BE SAFE out there! The world awaits you!! 👍😄❤️

10:12 might I suggest getting some kind of shield for the open single burner to prevent grease/food splatter on your bed. Don’t think the flame might be big enough to catch your bed on fire. I’ve also seen stick style fire extinguishers, they are a little bit pricier than the traditional ones but I think they either don’t expire or have a longer life

This is a very nice build. I like it because everything is so neat and tidy. Nothing looks messy, I have been wanting a 4Runner and this is a great way to set it up. I'm glad I found this video. Very nicely done. I wish he would market the bed platform and sell it in pieces that could be put together. That would be so great.

I do make these videos and over explain everything to try and make it easy for someone to duplicate. The 4Runners is definitely a nice vehicle. Putting a mic ultra coozie on your red bull will make it super quiet and keep it from making a bunch of noise! It worked great for me

Thanks! Yeah, I love simplicity. You can’t go wrong with either unless you wanna go off the beaten path. If you do light off-road, the van can manage light stuff just upgrade the suspension a bit and AWD would be nice. I just responded to your other comment too!
