looking at doing same thing... Did you separate the hvac controls for in the house? IE a split zone system with another thermostat? Or give control to smart thermostat?

Awesome!...I used to be residential builder in Texas, I moved back to Mexico and got me this house with rooms for rent Wich I'm transition it in to a Airbnb several units as well!

This is an absolutely amazing. This is what we did to our first house in LA but we house hacked and lived in the second unit :). Pays off all our bills with 3-5K net income monthly ☺️. Best way to go! But we also have some issues with noise coming through the door way separating the guest unit and our unit.

@@ShannonElizabethDesign just while I’m renovating but it’s going to take a few more months! But I’ve grown fond of living here! We have a 5-acre place so my plan is to renovate a RV and put it on the land and we can visit whenever we want 🥰

You should definitely add plumbing to the first unit, maybe a dishwasher too. Stuff washing dishes in the bathroom, I'd leave them for you to do!

Do you ever have any trouble with multiple separate guests using the same outdoor, parking, other spaces etc. or booking each space separately and as one unit simultaneously?

No we have not since they all have their own little outdoor area. Also we label the parking spots “A,B, etc” so there is no confusion

What’s the door you used to separate the two upstairs suites? Are you happy with the soundproofing measures you took or you face troubles afterwards (eg. noise complaint)?
