@camillosteuss3 жыл бұрын
you underestimate the quality and durability of olden mercs... modern mercs go faster and do more "cool" shit, but old mercs are built like trucks, yeah, reinforcing stuff is always a great idea in my book, but my point is that with and without reinforcements, old mercs can take a lot of power and torque, its just a bit fiddly to cram all that modern shit in and make it work with cast subframes and such that wont take welding kindly... I would actually go with remaking a steel subframe that would act and do all that the old subframe does, but would be made from machined parts rather than a casting, which would allow for use of geometry and alloying to reduce mass but greatly increase durability and allow for additional stuff that will be used from the modern merc...

AMG built some really Special 107's using the M100 engines. First was 6.3 liter conversion ,but the ultimate was the 7.4 liter M100 350SLC,with 5 speed trans built for the CEO of the (defunct) Dresder bank who was worried about getting car jacked by communist terrorists .I have had experience with doing these m100 conversions which required dropping the Front axle 50mm. One was photographed doing 286 KPH on the 'ring. It will be interesting to see how the later engine performs.
