Great to see you back! Hope you can post more often. Thanks for this info. : )

Hey! I know I have been inactive for quite a while but I'm hoping to post projects more often. I wrote my own LCD interface for an Arduino recently but watching people code isn't always the most interesting subject.

If a person is into that, should be ok but what attracted me the most to your channel was the things you did with shooting ping pong balls at high speed , measuring speed using audacity, floating particles in a wire cage sort of thing with electricity, the echo thing , ect. I know you need to do a mix of things and that is fine. I still watch all videos and have learned something out of each. : )

Thanks, I'm glad you like what I do. I plan on shooting more ping pong balls but where I live now there is no space to safely set up and fire >_

@@NickMoore It's just a ping pong ball. What could possible go wrong? (Cue dramatic music).

Glad you like it, I'll hopefully be a little more active next year. This year burned out trying to be ready for the Maker Fest.

Interesting as always, I hope you are back for good, Nick. We miss you, you know, besides only you can deliver super exciting stuff with calm as a medical surgeon voice.

I'm tempted to make a flat earth joke here but honestly now I just really want to go do this myself. Nice video!

Once you get a hang of taking the photosphere images you can do one in about 2min. Go for it!

Heyya, LTNS! I have Hugin installed, but I've never used its GUI; I use its 'align_image_stack' command line tool to register star shots, or long-interval time-lapses where the camera has moved a bit between shots. The GUI looks quite full-featured; I'll have to give it a look-see. Cheers!

I know, it's been ages since I worked on anything. I never thought to use its componant tools individually, I should probably look into them. The GUI is pretty good though, I very rarely have to make manual adjustments to the process. As an interesting side note, this is the first video I have produced 100% on Linux. My last tie to Windows is gaming :/

What're you using for video editing? I boycotted iMovie for awhile, and did everything with 'ffmpeg', but my editing needs were basic. Fortunately, they made iMovie somewhat usable again.

I tried flowblade and openshot but eventually settled on kdenlive. It has some stability issues if I try to use GPU acceleration but otherwise it is overflowing with features and was pretty easy to figure out.

Very cool! The blurriness y mention in the end,is that due to the original resolution of the photo? Thanks for sharing.
@NickMoore6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, some of it is from the original image and some is from the heavy distortion of the projection. The tree tops were at least 30feet up and my tiny planet puts them right up in the foreground.
@rezganger6 жыл бұрын
@@NickMoore I wonder how much distortion one would see in a 100% crisp image?In theory,that is...
@NickMoore6 жыл бұрын
When I make these images the traditional way (shooting many images with my 35mm camera) they come out very clear. A lot of the blur comes from the fact that phones store the image in that equirectangular format.
@rezganger6 жыл бұрын
@@NickMoore Ok.Do y think its possible to circumvent the format issue,maybe by using another camera?Its just a bit "sad" that there has to be blurrr in cool photos. Iv always been a bit interested in photography but never gotten around to it.Maybe i should think about it,now that tech in general is pretty affordable. I really enjoy yr channel.Its always something different.If y want a tip for another very good youtube channel,check out TECH INGREDIENTS - kzbin.info/door/VSHXNNBitaPd5lYz48--yg Hes got a very high quality channel with all sorts of stuff. Cheers.

You could take a pair of normal photos (one straight up and one down) after taking the photosphere and import them to hugin as well. The software should be able to align them with the rest of the image and make it clearer.

Glad you liked it. I love to shoot these 360 panoramas, they take some time to set up but you can extract a dozen unique images from each one.
