I season the bottom of my wok... I too looked in his book (and kind of all over the web) and never got a good answer. But seasoning infrequently and really casually has been a good way to cover up scratches from the cast iron range grate.

The new format is really cool! The clips of your cooking make the video really engaging. Keep the good work 👌🏼

Great review. Only issue I have is that you called him out on Sichuan peppercorns. He actually provides quite a bit of information on them why they do what they do. He even discussed specifically the difference between red and green and then went on to suggest stocking the red as it is more versatile. Page 23 and 24. I'm sure you probably just missed it but thought you would want to know.

Cookbook reviews: 9 out of 10, very fun and intresting to listen to but rates things 9 too much.

I’ve been mostly reviewing stuff that I already own and enjoy, so there’s a skew towards highly rated books on this channel. I’m gonna transition my channel to reviewing books that are recently released, so you’ll probably see a variety in scores. Thanks for watching!

What is a cookbook review channel without a little flip through? It is not that easy to get a stike!how the book looks, the pictures, the contents, the layout are integral for a cookbook review. I did enjoy the cooking bits but you have to add the flip through or it's all useless. Cookbook divas are doing 4-5 flip through a day and they are fine by the copyright part. Don't be so skittish

Thanks for the feedback. I do agree, showing the layout can help get a better understanding of the book. With the channel growing, I’m trying to find a way to make sure I’m not in any trouble. Every book starts off with a statement saying I cant distribute or photograph this book for any reason. However, I know fair use covers reviews. I asked a KZbinr with more experience with copyright and he said I probably wouldn’t get sued or anything because I can argue that my videos don’t replace the full experience of it. Copyright laws are just kind of weird, so I’m being a little cautious about it. I’ll work on trying to incorporate portions of the book in the review. I just need to think of a proper way.

@@cookbookreviews9848 I started watching your videos because I wanted to see how pretty the layout is, how thick is it, the size,no. of pictures etc. A quick flip through would also work. Don't listen to "expert youtubers", you clearly started a channel based on your unique idea...have the strength to follow that uniqueness. Otherwise do what you want, I'll just say "he was better when he began"

@@cookbookreviews9848 and one more thing, your understanding of why people want a cookbook review is very rigid. Not everyone buys a cookbook to cook from it.

@@cookbookreviews9848 We haven't gotten in trouble yet, but we try to flip through REALLY fast so nobody could get a "free recipe" by doing a screenshot or whatever. Now that publishers are sending us free cookbooks constantly, we figure at least those publishers "get it" what we're trying to do. By the way, we get lots of complaints from viewers who expected us to cook things from the cookbooks and review them, so we changed all of our video titles to Cookbook Preview instead of Review, which helped with the whiny comments, mostly! We refer them to your channel because you do cook things and review cookbooks so very thoroughly!

@@CookbookDivas Thank you for referring people to my channel! I really appreciate it. I need to look into more about showing the inside of the books for a cookbook. From what I've read about Fair Use, I believe its ok as long as I'm not showing the entire book.
