I see so many making of photos showing camera men investing every passion they have into their work but their posture and endless sacrifice makes it clear that that heavy back pain is unavoidable. Don’t put career over basic health guys!

I've worked on multiple short films till the early hours of the morning and I also understand how important proper sleep/exercise is to keeping your body healthy and optimal for shoots, both physically and mentally. Glad to hear these mentors giving us newer people good advice for the future!

Our average shoot days are 12 hour sets, from 7:00am - 6pm/ 11:00pm, for 3 days, which is great

After working in TV/FILM for 30 years, I can assure you that no limitations are ever put on which people get these positions. These are union jobs and one must be profoundly gifted as a cinematographer already to be noticed by and invited by the union to enter this esteemed realm. There are no training programs so anyone can learn this craft. There do need to be more minorities and women in these jobs. But, the road to this level of technical/artistic sophistication is a very long, arduous one which many people simply wouldn't want to invest themselves in. The rewards are very often not there and never will be.
