Coat the beef in flour before you braise it. I also put flour in the unit before I close it up because it thickens the mixture up.

Roll the meat cubes in flour seasoned with salt,pepper and paprika,brown in a little butter or oil add carrots,taters,onions cut in chunks,water and cook til tender,season to taste.Yours is gourmet,looks yummy.We had biscuits(American)for sopping up gravy.

My mom made stew all the time because it was economical for a big family. You added a few enhancements with the wine, sugar, herbs that now i must try! And the piano or guitar riff is always the best part! Success!

Leave the water out and toss the beef in flour before browning, jobs a good'un. May still have to thicken a little but less of that floury taste you can get. Or use Gravox!

I use half pork, half beef, bit of soy sauce, a red chili or two. Otherwise practically the same recipe. Also use it for moose stew, again with 50% pork for the fat.
