One of the things we love most about our older farm home is the ability to heat and cook on our Gempac wood stove. It requires work to get the wood and keep the fire burning but we love it!

Where we used to live, we had a wood stove in the basement and a small one in the kitchen. During one of the snowstorms, I was out plowing out the driveway with my old John Deere while barb was cooking breakfast IN the stove in the basement. In it, not on it. I could smell it all over the yard. Best breakfast I have ever had.

That is awesome! What a way to encourage you to come in for breakfast!

This video takes me back to my childhood and spending summers on the farm. No running water, no indoor washroom. Wood stove had a similar layout to the one you have, only baba had a water reservoir on the far left. The water would get quite warm and she would wash my hair with it. I got many burns from putting the wood in thru the circle. I was too small to lift the large opening to put wood in. She didn’t have a lever like yours. We had one of those small handles that fit into the slot on the round plate.

Oh yes! We have that same tool and round opening as well. We don't use it that often though, we just use the lever. There is an option to have a 'water jacket' in place of 2 of the fire bricks so we could heat water but the original owners didn't opt for that option.

That was very interesting. It was great to see Nicola drive the tractor. 👏🏻 Good job. How do you know what temperature the oven is? So nice to see your video and more of your beautiful kitchen. Delicious looking lasagna. 😊

Yes. Nicola is great on it! There is no temperature gauge on the oven. There is a fake one on the front. I have no idea why they didn't put a working one. So you just control the burn with the damper on the side.

You burned up my cutting board?!

No no! This is the first one that we tried. Not the one that you made for us!

Where would you purchase a stove Ike that?
@OSheaSpringers3 жыл бұрын
I believe this one Elmira Stove I believe. It was installed a few years before he bought the place. It’s been fantastic! Only thing we have needed to do apart fr regular maintenance is replace the fire brick, which we’ll need to do again as you can see from the video.
