She turned 87 in January 2017, she was just wandering if you were born southern or moved southern. We also tried your omish onion patties she loved them so much she said she wishes she had some pork chops onion gravy to go with it lol, told her not today.

Hi Debbie, this a great recipe and I’m going to give it a try tonight, but most of all I love your techniques. We’re all in lockdown in our homes with the Corona virus but I’m making this for my kids tonight for our dinner. Hope you and your mother are staying well. Love from Australia.

I make something similar with chickpea flour and baking powder, as my mother has issues with wheat flour and but adding mild madras curry power, chopped coriander / cilantro they become Indian onion bharji's. One thing i like to do is soak the onions in the buttermilk beforehand, if preplanned overnight if not 30 minutes. Thanks for the video take care and God bless.

Hi Debbie! So nice to find your channel! A couple of things to share with you...First my daughter is a "Debbie"too,and second (I know this sounds odd) but as I saw you cooking I couldn't help notice how similar your hands and arms are to my own in appearance...We have similar veins etc in the exact areas....We could be twins maybe,lol!Except our fingernails don't resemble...Lovely to see your mother! I'm 57 and I lost my hero,my mom,in 2008.I sure miss her,and she was a great cook,but always loved my cooking and she bragged that I was such a better cook than she was.I look forward to more of your videos!

She just developed allergies about 5 years ago. No peanuts or corn. I fry in sunflower or grape seed oil and avoid packaged foods that seem to all contain corn in some form. She has a severe skin reaction when she eats either. She ate some fried squash at a church dinner the other day, not thinking about the cornmeal breading and was miserable for days.

So much can be done with this.For example off the the top of my head....Greek yogurt dip with fresh dill and fresh garlic and s&p and a little lemon juice. Joseph, I went from med. High to medium as time passed. I have a high btu burner so I have to be careful not to overheat. I show how to test for heat. I adjust as I go, but medium high should work on a regular burner. If you want to check with a thermometer, go for 350 to 360 degrees.

can you carmalize the onions for this recipe..and put a little grated cheese in to???
@DebbiesBackPorch
@DebbiesBackPorch 6 жыл бұрын
I can't say because I have never tried it, but now that you mention it, I think I will. Sounds good. On the caramelized onions, my thoughts are that it would change the flavor and texture a lot. In this recipe, the onions have a light taste and are still a little crunchy. Caramelizing them would change that a lot. Sounds good, but very different. I would be light on the cheese, too. Frying fritters with cheese in them can get messy. Still, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Debbie's Back Porch We went through Vidalia Ga,in 1981 to my Great grandparents 50th anniversary in May that year.My mother and I bought 2- 50lb bags of Vidalia onions ( May is the month!)and we enjoyed them meal after meal! True Vidalia onions can be eaten raw just like an apple,and sweet as can be! Here in Texas sometimes 1015Y variety is said to be Vidalias but are no comparison..

Your wonderful! Love your commentary, and your Mother. God bless, and I can't wait to try these in place of what I was taught to call "hoe cakes" or corn cakes. Adding onion and making with flour, yummy!! My Grandmother would've loved this with some fresh sliced tomatoes from her garden alongside some of her other various vegetables. Thanks!
