I've heard people criticized for buying pricey cookware, but when our friend's home burned to the ground the only salvageable item was a Le Creuset pot just like yours. Even her husband's guns melted in the fire, but that pot....👍

Le Creuset is the best cast iron you can buy. It's pricey, but worth it. That's why all I could do was roll my eyes a couple weeks ago when everyone was criticizing a certain politician for spending almost 400 in their store 😂 heck, if I could I would too!

I wouldn’t trust an enameled cast iron pot that came through a fire because of the risk of carcinogens in microfissures in the glaze. CorningWare and Visions, the original white, amber, and cranberry pyroceram cookware, would most likely be safe to use after a fire, though. They used CorningWare pyroceram to make the space shuttle nose cone, after all.

And just like 1 video a month on what we should do, in that / what month, to prepare for some items that we want to make for Christmas gifts that year. Like ... the first quarter is too soon to stock up on Homemade Taco Seasoning spices but we can buy the bottles. And when is it ok to buy those spices and to mix and store. When do we start the homemade vanilla so it's ready. How & When to start making the Calendula (steeped?) beeswax salve. Just stuff like that for maybe 6 to 10 of the things you've shown us how to make or other things you'd like to try ... and trust me ... I WILL PAY! And I'm sure I'm not alone. I'd buy an ebook, or a printable, or a book, or a course, or if you set it up as a 'join' your channel as extra content, or patreon... just a thought. Maybe not for this next 2022 Christmas but during 2022 you can take notes and have it ready to go by 2023 ... but a thought! I know I have family members that would prefer a basket of GOOD stuff rather than anything else. Back Burner suggestions.

My absolute favorite thing to use cookie scoops for is cupcakes batter. Two scoops (my scoop is 1.5 tablespoons, so 3 tablespoons is perfect for a standard cupcake) fills a cupcake liner a perfect amount. I get asked to make cupcakes at every single holiday, gathering, or event. So trust me when I tell you it's a game changer. No messes, no guessing. Just perfect uniform batter in each cupcake/muffin. Try it if you haven't, you would just have to know the size of your scoop. 1.5 is I believe the"medium" Oxo size. Not 100% sure though. The cookie scoop makes quick work of stuffed pasta shells too 👍🏻 definitely not a one-trick pony. you can get a ton of uses for it.

I’ve run commercial kitchens for over ten years. Restaurant kitchen quality pots and pans are worth every penny you pay for them. I have a small sauce pot that is over 28 years old! Plastic spatulas that are heat resistant are a must along with changing out your plastic cutting boards when they get cut marks and stains. Another tip is to take a damp dish towel and lay it flat under a plastic cutting board to stop it from sliding on your counter. And lastly, to save money, buy the big half inch thick cutting boards from a restaurant kitchen supplier or Costco/Sams Club and cut them into smaller boards with a table saw. They don’t warp in the high heat of 180 degree sanitizing wash that they really need to keep them safe. My favorite size board is a 6x6 inch because it doesn’t take up too much space. Counter space is precious in most home kitchens.

Hello Becky greetings from your neighbor to the North. Thank you for all the videos you share. Your content is always informative and inspiring. I have a few tips I wanted to share related to this video. #1- You can use a manual wood planer to shave off layers of a plastic cutting board that get stained or worn. Make sure you plane the whole side of the board or it will have a dip in it. #2- You can use your cookie scoops to make your meatballs as well. Now they have a multi-use purpose. I scoop the meat and use the palm of my hand to make it flush with the scoop and place it flat side down and bake it. Your 2oz scoop for your freezer meals (a real time saver) and the 1oz for party appetizers. I use my measuring cups when making patties I use the 1/2 cup measure to portion my patties. Using the measuring cup this way helps with portion control, uniform cooking and can be a budget stretcher as well. #3-I have been successful at removing stains from inside enamel pots & pans as well as sinks with a Mr. Clean Magic eraser.

The Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless Cookware line is a more affordable option for the All-Clad pans, but perform just as well. They are made in China, but they do have a French Classic line of the MultiClad that is made in France. However, the Cuisinart pans are about half or a third of the cost, so far more budget friendly although still an investment. They clean very easily with Barkeeper's Friend and are a joy to cook with. I don't have any of their non-stick pans, so can't vouch for those, but the standard stainless have served me very well for many years. Also, I resisted cookie scoops for so long because they were a one-trick pony, but OMG! Am I SO GLAD I bought one! They speed up the process of cookie making soooo much!

I do have some all-clad, but they also make a version just like mine where the triply is only on the bottom. The fully clad all the way up the sides is the only version one should buy if getting all-clad, but they are heavy, so decide if what you cook needs that vs how heavy they can get w food in them. And never buy expensive pans if you want nonstick. (Which you don’t.) They all wear out. Warranties never cover normal wear.

Regarding the spatulas: get silicone ones, they can withstand high heat where the plastic or rubber ones melt. I have bought so many cookie scoops and they all don't work after a couple uses.

Becky.!!! It's so funny how similar we are. I hate reading. Dental hygiene school was a beast with all the reading we had to do and I refuse to read now even 6.5 years out. Haha. I love your recommendations! I just recently started cooking in a Dutch oven and it's A. GAME. CHANGER!

This year I upgraded from all my gross Teflon pans to stainless steel! I have (2) all clad pieces and the rest I have are cheap stainless steel pots from Marshall’s, home goods, etc. I like the cheap ones if I need to heat up a can of soup or make popcorn, toss it in the dishwasher, then I’m done. I NEVER put my all clad in the dishwasher so I definitely use it less frequently but it’s well loved when making larger meals ♥️

I have a few of the items you use. I love the cookie scoops. They also work great for making meatballs a standard size. I was going thru face book and also saw your video post. Now I can continue on with my day. Bless you.

I own many of the items you recommend in this video. When you said you have definite thoughts and feelings on spatulas, I was like "Sing it, girl! No seams in the rubber! It needs to be bendy!" I worked for a major retailer for a couple of years (many years ago) and purchased my KitchenAid Mixer there on an Associate Appreciation day when we had major discounts. I still think it is the single best perk of all the time I spent there. Thanks for the great content, as always, Becky!

I use the 2oz cookie scoop for meatballs. The 1oz is just the right size for the filling of a perogie. I find is saves a lot of time to have scoops of filling ready on a plate.

Hey Becky! I am completely new to this but I have fallen in love with your channel. I've watched most of your videos and remembered the Apple Pear Harvest and processing one you did, well my husband and I used my Bartlett pears that were getting a little too ripe too quickly and we may pear bread, pear juice/pear cider and pear sauce. I made the pear juice/pear cider with the scraps, peelings and cores because I remember you using the scraps to make the juice in the steamer. We had so much fun today! Thanks!

Completely with you on those spatulas. I have several of those red spatulas which I found at WM. The other issue I hated was the insides getting gunky when they were 2 pieces

I also love the OXO brand, especially their vegetable peeler, but it’s extremely sharp, so watch that you don’t have any skin in the path of what you are peeling…

We switched to stainless steel cutting boards last year and LOVE them. So easy to deal with and can just put them in the dishwasher.

I completely agree with you about good cookware. I have had my Zwilling knife set for over 30 years. They are still in excellent cutting condition and are used almost daily. And while I don't have the Boos cutting board , I do have a fabulous block I have had many years. I always used linseed oil on it. I am going to have to try out the Boos oil and cream. All my stainless utensils are high quality and I can't tell you how long I have had them. Still in excellent condition. It's definitely worth investing in good quality cookware as they do indeed last many lifetimes. I am sure my grandkids will be using them. I cook with mostly cast iron, both plain and enameled but I also invested in good heavy stainless pots years ago. I have some pretty big ones to 😊. There was a time I made just about everything from scratch. All my breads and sweets. Not so much anymore. But when I get a kitchen again I'll be cooking that way again I think. I do miss it. This is a great video for young people just getting started.

Absolutely agree with you!!! Now the cocottes/dutch ovens from Le Creuset come with a metal knob so that you can place them in the oven. I use it for my sourdough bread all the time (you can also buy them apart). Also I would point that black cocottes/dutch ovens from LeCreuset resist higher temperatures than the ones with the inside white. I miss a peeler in your list!!! I cannot live without it.

I have always said that any kitchen appliance has to EARN it's way to stay on the counter! That means frequent use! Currently, I have my Kitchenaid, a toaster, a magic bullet, two coffee makers and a bread machine. I think the bread maker has not earned it's time on the counter for now so it's going in the cupboard. I have 2 instant pots and use them often but not enough to earn a spot on the counter.
@melanieortiz7123 жыл бұрын
For me it's not so much "earn space" I just don't want have the cupboards to put them in. I'd rather keep little on my counters if possible because after awhile they get dust and grease it particles from cooking.

Pulled most of my stuff off the counter after getting my induction cook top. Now only have a coffee maker/grinder, stainless steel pump pot to put the coffee in and my red tea kettle. Even the toaster goes away.

What are peoples feelings on nonstick pans? Also I’ve had the same set of Revere ware pots and pans for 35 years they were a Xmas gift from my husband on our 1st Xmas as a married couple I know it sounds weird to be sentimental about pots but every time I cook with them which is every day it reminds me of the love my husband and I have for each other I’m such a sap 😆
