In my place at davao del sur, army spotted armed civilians from afar; believing that they are the NPA, they started shooting and killed 1 child. It is actually a group of people looking for a wild boar or a philippine deer. Carrying a weapon in the jungle will 95% guarantee you getting shot by either the army or the NPA. So no, hunting is really not that regular here in Philippines.

This video encapsulate why I hate city living. I currently live in a big international city, worked for small to big and corporate companies with cushy engineering jobs behind a desk. I work for my own business now, but I'm still behind a desk all day. And yet, I grew up on the countryside of a small tropical island. Running through the jungle, scaling mountains and going to the beach all the time. Catching falcons, chasing wild pigs and chickens, catching fish and trapping crabs. Every vacation day was an adventure, with no planning. We were doing everything on a whim. If we needed money, we would hustle, find fresh fruits, clean them, sell them to tourists. Then get a ride to wherever we wanted. It was the good life. Everything is so stale and boring now.

I don't remember the exact flavor, but the meat was very tender. The closest I have had since then to the memory of the flavor is a very tender pork loin. I'm 71.
