Most people’s first introduction to Thai food is Pad Thai, Thailand’s signature dish which literally means “fried, thai style.”
People all over the world love this tangy, sweet noodle dish. In the city of Bangkok there are whole food stands dedicated to making this lovely noodle dish. You never forget the first time you taste those sweet, tangy noodles stir fried with eggs, shrimp, tofu and bean sprouts.
Although the flavors seem very complicated, once you get all the ingredients together, it’s quite easy to make. Today we give this classic dish our own twist by adding a peppery watercress and instead of chopped peanuts, garnishing it with sliced almonds.
We’ve always been fans of the quirky Trixie Mattel, the fabulous queen from Wisconsin, who thanks to her sharp sense of humor and distinctive doll like make-up, won the hearts of fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race, making her a standout from Season 7.
It’s funny how much people have an opinion about drag queens and make-up, never actually done it themselves. Marc and I live for Trixie’s extreme make-up style, which after a couple of drinks at a gay bar makes you think you’re talking to a living, giant blow up doll.

Most vegetarians consider fish and chicken to not be a meat since pork and beef are often fed corn and other bi-products while chicken can be free range they are also fed lots of chemicals but also there is lots of chicken that is actually 100% free range so it isn't considered cruel because those chickens had a good life and seafood is from the sea so it's free and she is also a Lacto-Ovo vegetarian which means she likes dairy and eggs which come from chickens .....sorry I ranted

If you freeze the tofu for about 24 hours, then thaw it and squeeze out as much water as possible, it changes the texture completely. Then make a slurry of cornstarch and water, dip the tofu in and fry. It's definitely not fat free, but the tofu gets super crispy on the outside and has a "bread-y" almost meat-y texture inside (for lack of a better descriptives) It may sound weird, but for a vegetarian dish, I have found this method to mimic (fried) chicken the best. With a General Gao or Korean fried chicken type sauce, or any flavorful sauce, it definitely has gotten raves from non meat eaters.

Vegan - does not eat any meat, poultry, fish, eggs, milk or other animal products . Vegetarian - does not eat meat, poultry, fish or anything that an animal has to die to produce (fish sauce and shrimp paste are not secreted from living animals, they are made using parts of dead fish/shrimp so are not strictly vegetarian) . Pescetarian - does not eat meat or poultry but does eat fish and seafood (including products that involve killing fish/crustaceans) . ^ Most likely Trixie is a pescetarian (a lot of pescetarians use the label vegetarian) - hope this clears things up :)

Right, and that is the problem - people who are vegetarian (like my boyfriend, who I wanted to make this for) don't eat anything that involves killing animals for their meat. Pescatarians will eat fish and shellfish, just like Trixie was doing in this video when she was eating a dish that contained both fish sauce and shrimp paste (named for the two animals those respective ingredients are made out of). Trixie can call herself vegetarian all she wants, but the dish she's eating in this video is NOT vegetarian.

Many drugstores nowadays even carry entire lines of medicines and supplements that are 100% vegan. When it comes down to it, the general public is very ill-informed about the foods they consume, what's in them, and what exactly different dietary lifestyles entail. Just look at Ariana Grande--labels herself "vegan" yet is caught in a donut shop, while also wearing things like leather. The fact of the matter is that many STRICT vegetarians and vegans know what their lifestyle choice entails, and often must spend more time researching their food choices than the average person. P.S. - Trixie may actually be 100% vegetarian, and it may be that the people cooking for her do not realize that consuming fish is not vegetarian, but she ate their food out of respect.

Michael Althouse In my country that is not the reality. mostly if not all drgs are animal tested, so many vegan are not really vegan because in foods, farmaceuticals and other beauty products, everything has animal components or are animal tested.That is why I said is almostimpossible, maybe in your country you have more chances. However, I dont like to label people, that is why I said "mostly" vegetarian or "vegetarian-like" I am not judging nobody

Loreto Hidalgo Well then you should have specified "in your country," and not generalized everything. Because in a lot of other countries there are extremely strict regulations on things that are labeled vegetarian or vegan. Even with the US basically being an experimental testing ground using its people as the test subjects for many ingredients banned in other countries, there are still regulations on things labelled organic, vegan, fair trade, etc. There are even seals for items not tested on animals, and in many cases, outside 3rd-party auditors run strict regulatory checks on certain companies and their products that if the company passes they can label their products accordingly. And while their are general loopholes in the system for labeling, like "All Natural" which has little to no regulation and can mean just about anything, labeling something vegan, organic, fair trade, not tested on animals, etc. and it not actually being that can lead to huge lawsuits over false advertising. There is even a difference between "not tested on animals" and "against animal testing," where a lot of companies will say they are against animal testing unless required by law, as is the case with all cosmetics imported to China, which requires they first be tested on animals before distribution for consumption by the masses. Burt's Bees is one company that does not test their products on animals, and has the not tested on animals seal, HOWEVER, they were bought out by Chlorox several years ago, which is a company that DOES test on animals. Loop holes are everywhere, so I understand where you are coming from with that you say, however, it's not entirely impossible to abstain from animal byproducts if you do your research.
