I have a Fagor that is over ten years old, I see from this video they have upgraded the valve on it. I mainly use mine for cooking Beef Stew and stuffed Artichokes. It does a good job of tenderizing tough vegetables and beef.

I love this pressure cooker. I had an Instant Pot and returned it for a variety of reason. This Fagor Duo is reliable and cooks great.

I have been using my 6-quart Fagor pressure cooker for a few weeks now. It is an excellent product. Go to the library and check out pressure cooker cookbooks and you'll learn what you like and don't like quickly. The handles on my Fagor do not seem cheap to me. In fact, it is a beautiful item. Be sure to only put the bottom half in the dishwasher, handwash the lid.

Thank you for this helpful video: When do choose your pressure setting, that was not clear to me? Is it selected before you close the lid? Also, does the cooker need to be warmed before you add ingredients or do you add ingredients to a cold pot?

You can select the pressure setting after you lock the lid. The ingredients are added to the cold pot and once the food and liquid are in, you close and lock the lid, select the pressure setting and start heating the unit on high heat, if you have a gas stove, or medium heat if you have an electric stove. You add everything to a cold pot unless you are browning something such as a pot roast, then just continue with the recipe as usual with the pot being hot. If you are not browning anything, add all ingredients according to the recipe to the pot and close and lock the pot and then select the pressure low or high. Make sure you have the yellow slider in the lock position which is up

Do you turn the heat down when the orange pin comes up or a couple minutes later when steam is steadily emerging from valve with a slight hiss?

+Jonathan Kandell Hello Jonathan, you need to turn down the heat after the pin comes up and the steam starts coming out of the valve on top. At that point your pressure cooker has reached the pressure and you can start timing your recipe. Thank you.

I bought an 8-quart Duo a few weeks ago. And so I gotta tell ya that the handles on these Fagor pressure cookers don't strike me as safe. The plastic seems very brittle and cheap. And while I've been very careful, there is one lady that posted at Amazon (in a review) saying that she was carrying a hot load in the one she had and that it broke! I'd serious consider looking into perhaps spending a little more money to have the peace of mind.

@@sduarte215 OK so that's not used for the pressure, but for taking the valve out to clean! You pull it up and turn it towards the 0 and the valve should pop right out. :) I had to look it up too, it's not the most intuitive of symbols.

What’s the difference between setting 1 and 2 - is it a higher psi and faster cooking times? If so what is the differential/difference?

Setting 2 cooks at a higher pressure than setting 1.

My wife was trying to cook meat and she could not close the lid. we did not align the line lid properly. it would not turn or open. so we had to break the lid handle and after one hour of work took the meat out. Good luck with all the proud owners.
