This video might be 7 years old but it’s the most helpful I found! Very well explained, Thank you so much! :) The storing and oil tips are very helpful too!
@justnoted2995 Жыл бұрын
Except the oil part: preferably don't oil any non-permanently fitted rubber gasket; instead, just gently rinse with cold water, or wipe with damp (slightly soapy) cloth (only necessary when the gasket has sticky food stains on it). Then store in fridge until next use... prolongs the life of the gasket

Brilliant - thank you!! I bought a pressure cooker a few weeks ago but somewhere deep in my childhood psyche, I had been told (probably by my mother) that they were dangerous so I have been very wary about using it. This fear - along with trying to remember everything in the manual has prevented me. Your video was just what I needed. Thank you for taking the time to make it ! Terri :-)

I wish I could give this 5 stars, and a 2nd 'like', I already liked it awhile back. I use my pressure cooker infrequently enough that I had to watch it again, 9 months later. You made it so clear and easy! I hope Fagor rewards you. If they made this into a DVD to include with the pressure cooker purchase would be helpful, too. Anyway, thank you for this excellent presentation.

Hi, thank you for your video, I will definitely try this! I use a huge 23qt Presto cooker/canner, want to buy a 8qt stainless one for meals. You are right, too big is difficult to handle. I have a suggestion for you. I was a Holistic health major and my 78 yr old dad is pre-diabetic. It's a good step to omit the flour to reduce carbs, but the carrots, apple slices and applesauce are carbs. Yes, foods with fiber are better, the carbs absorb slower to not spike your blood sugars. If your numbers are higher than you or your doctor like, it would be a good idea to meet with a diabetic nutritionist, to tweak things. Many blessings to you! :)

Ahhh thank you so much for this video. I bought my Fago Duo about 4 months ago after being really disappointed with my electric model. I'm now a lot more confident about ensuring I am reaching pressure and all the handle is set correctly. The first time I used it all the meat stuck to the bottom and burnt (about 40 minutes at setting 2). I browned the meat and veggies in the pressure cooker. This time I am trying by browning in a frypan first to see if it makes much difference. Because I can't stir or check it during the process how do I ensure it won't stick? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for this video, when I heard the steam come out but the indicator didn't pop up I gave it a gentle nudge and it popped up right away. I made vegetable stock with 4 lbs of Mirepoix (adding 6 small cloves of garlic, 1 clove, 1 bay leaf and 10 pepper corns) and a gallon of water, it just about reached the max capacity marker. Should anybody be interested I will give an update on how it tasted but I can't imagine it not turning out great.

I have 2 pressure cookers that i would like to compare for maximum pressure. Can you think of some way to measure the actual pressure of each one (not just the claims of the manufacturer), so that i can make informed decisions when i need to use one? If not measure in actual psi/kPa, then some way to compare so that i know which one reaches a higher pressure?

Do all pressure cookers have a gasket? I've owned mine several years but never used it as pressure cooker. I've never seen a gasket.
@nancyferraro43986 жыл бұрын
Hi Helen, I have the exact same cooker. I was cooking beef soup today and I've noticed right through the cooking time (set it on 2) it was gushing steam the whole time. I stopped it and checked to see if the seal was on correctly, and all good. I proceeded again and the same thing happened. Is this normal?
@helenrennie6 жыл бұрын
If the steam was coming out of the valve on top, that's normal. Just reduce the heat. It's normal for a little water to drip around the handle. If the steam is coming out of the sides of the pot, that means the seal wasn't completely tight. If the pressure indicator was up the whole time, it's probably not a biggie, but if you notice that stuff isn't cooking as it should, you might need a new gasket.
@nancyferraro43986 жыл бұрын
Helen Rennie Many thanks for your reply, it was the steam coming out of the valve on top. My soup was cooked to perfection!

This is a Great Video !! Please make more. After several days of research I found that the Fagor DUO is considered to be one of the best pressure cookers. So I got one, well I got the 5 peace set. It just arrived today. Never owned one and know nothing about one. Odd thing if this is suppost to be so good where are all the videos of people showing off there recipes ? There are a boat load of videos of the digital type pressure cookers. They say your are not suppose to mix water with electricity. You would not take your laptod and put it on your stove would you ? All that heat and steam, how long would it last ? I may be wrong but that is what I think of when I see these digital type pressure cookers. They may be eaiser to use but how long are they going to last. That is why I got the stove type pressure cooker. If anyone has any simple but good recipes please make a video or tell me.
@helenrennie6 жыл бұрын
check out www.hippressurecooking.com/ she has a ton of recipes for pressure cookers. you don't need special recipes for stove top vs. electric pressure cookers. they are basically interchangeable. if you like beans, here is my video on cooking dry beans in a pressure cooker: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6nWaZ2ZpK2Hrck
