Nothing like catching up with your besties, especially when you all live in different countries. So when Candice Swanepoel and I were in town for New York Fashion Week recently, we dropped by Joan Smalls’ place to cook a meal (or let Joan do the cooking!) and catch up. We all grew up as ‘farm girls’ in different corners of the world - South Africa, Puerto Rico and the Netherlands - and I think that’s why we have a special connection, to each other and to the earth.

If you have to work and there is barely any time left and you want to spend that time with your kids, which is what the average person lives like because they have to work, there isn't barely any space for that extent of self care. Doutzen and Candice are models - it's their job to look that good and they have good genes (like psyNadya said) and it shouldn't be put on the average woman to be expected to look like this after giving birth (or even before). But if you really really want it, there can be a way, so yeah, I would like to know as well how to prevent stretch marks, get back into shape afterwards, because I like my body best slim. It's everyones own decision what they prioritze and want the most, it just shouldn't be put as a beauty STANDARD, because these women are not your average mom. Not even average people.

@@heyheyvicky1498 That's what you and many people get so wrong firstly no one is forcing anyone to look like that people are just attracted to certain looks and since that sells those business will keep making money, that's it.Also having a body extremely close to that doesn't require to spend hours in them gym, just don't shove crap down your throat, do a vacuum while you literally sitting anywhere (Google what the vacuum for your belly is ,it works wonders),for those stretch marks you could only prevent them by not gaining more weight than you should during pregnancy and use some stretch mark preventing cream (and I have a condition where I was born with thinner skin than normal and still managed ,plus hypothyroidism)

Let's be honest, genetics plays a *MASSIVE* role in how great they look. They are also rich enough to have very good personal trainers.

But so does nutrition and excercise. A woman with a longer torso and adequate.diet will ot stretch as much as the opposite. I have a small torso and long legs... and had an 11 lbs. Baby. Pilates helped a lot, though the skin was never as tight (no stretch marks).

as a German who eat rather similar food I feel a little bit butthurt, but I usually don't go for so much meat and potatoes either...it's just rather heavy food. But Sauerkraut is very healthy! :)

Very rich and hearty dishes that are heavy on fatty meats with gravies, potatoes and other tuberous plants. Lots of casserole dishes with pastries, and limited greens and colorful vegetables. The presentation of the food is also not very imaginative and aesthetically pleasing for gourmet. Just functional and nourishing enough to feed and keep you warm from the colder weather up in the north. Also, they all love beet. I have heard, however, that Germans have a great variety of breads, and the Dutch love their chocolate and cheese.

I think it's also about what is easy to plant and keep in the region (like potatoes can be stored after harvest, meat would be always fresh, etc.). About beet...I hate it and know barely anyone who loves it?? And yes, if you google german bread, you get like 1000 different types. We just love bread :)
