The ingredients:
1 cup melted butter or ghee, or both
1 package Baklava phyllo dough
2 cups finely chopped walnuts or any nuts / double the amount if using a larger tray
1 tablespoon of sugar
You can add cardamom or cinnamon
One cup simple syrup (link below)
Steps:
-Boil butter or ghee or both for about 1 ~ 2 minutes over low-medium heat
-Get rid of the white foam
-Leave aside to cool down
-Cut the baklava dough layers to fit the size of the baking tray with a size of 9 by 9 inches or any size brushed with melted butter
-Brush every layer of baklava dough with melted butter
-Put chopped nuts and press a little
-Cover with the other layers of baklava dough
-Cut into squares or any other shape
-Bake at 350 ° F until golden brown for about 30 ~ 45 minutes
-Pour the simple syrup over the hot baklava link below
-Garnish with crushed pistachios (optional)
-Enjoy it when it is at room temperature or cold
-Keep the rest in a closed box in the refrigerator or it can be placed in the freezer
