How that smoker is set up is how it came from the factory. Im actually impressed with the performance of it. Once it heated up, it stayed at a steady temp of 250 on low. Thanks for watchin brotha!!

How do you keep the temp down I have the same one and I have it on the lowest setting and have the vent all the way open and it still gets high in temp I hit 300 the other weekend I put water in there too
@TheReelRebel Жыл бұрын
Close your vents more. The more open they are, the more oxygen the smoker is getting, hence the higher temperature.

We just got the same smoker and will be smoking tomorrow for the first time. What do you use as a drip pan/pot for the grease?

I just use a basic aluminum pan to toss after use.

Just bought this smoker and new to all of this. Do you soak your wood chips first? BTW love your videos!
@CookingwithKirby6 жыл бұрын
Hello Jennifer, thank you I appreciate that. Yes I usually let the wood chips soak for about an hour. Depending on the cook and how long it will take, I do several hand fulls of chips to soak. This smoker is really easy to use, on low you are looking at a temp of 250 filled with water on the bottom. If you let the water dry out, it gets hot just like an oven. So you can cook slow and fast, I hope you enjoy it as I do. If you ever have any questions, feel free to ask. Also to note, I suggest buying a thermometer probe so you can monitor the internal temps if you dont have one. It helps a lot.
@pdxthriftking50334 жыл бұрын
I changed the gas regulator out for a smaller one and got the temp to hold at 220. It was worth the $25
@bridgettleah20273 жыл бұрын
What am I doing wrong?!? I put water in and have to refill the water every 45 minutes for 6+ hours. I want to "set it and forget it" like you said in the last video.
@Dailygrilling5 жыл бұрын
So if you go no water you would wrap with juice?
@CookingwithKirby5 жыл бұрын
Hey TK, if you want to wrap smoke them for 2 hours to set the bark on the seasoning. Wrap in foil and add a little apple juice, about a half of a cup. Cook for another hour while wrapped. Remove and cook for an additional hour. You can sauce it up at that time. This smoker stays steady at 250ish degrees with water in it at the lowest temp setting. With no water in it, it will get higher temperature. I would do a dry run first to see if not using water is what you want to do. If the temp is higher than 300, cook for an hour wrap for another hour and then baste with bbq sauce.

Do you use the propane all the time for charboil vertical smoker?
@CookingwithKirby5 жыл бұрын
When I use that one I do. Its really simple to make food on. I have other smokers and grills from charcoal to propane. Just depends on the cook, time and mood.

Cooking with Kirby okay sir..is it possible to cook the pull lamb shoulder?
@zulazmi235 жыл бұрын
Cooking with Kirby you mean for the 5hours u use the propane? And dont have to change the new propane in between?
@CookingwithKirby5 жыл бұрын
@@zulazmi23 Ya its pretty efficient with the propane. I can get about 2 long cooks off one tank. Hotter faster cooks its more.

They are made by Weber, they make it much easier on space management. I bought them for my gas grill to cook ribs off heat. They work good and have had them for quite sometime now. You definitely wont be disappointed.

Can you hang ribs inside this smoker? Or just lay them down?
@CookingwithKirby4 жыл бұрын
You can if you find the correct hooks. But its not design to hang.

I definately gotta pickup some rib racks. I got the cusinart brand of this style and after cutting 2 racks of spares ill have to use all 4 smoker racks.. I could roll em and pin them with a skewer but i could cook 2 racks of ribs on 1 metal grate with the rib raco and have the rest of the space for other things.
@CookingwithKirby5 жыл бұрын
Ya these racks are convenient. I can fit 5 slabs on my Weber Kettle using the rack. You wont be disappointed.

Hi Trevor, I picked them up at walmart in the Grill section. You can find them all over Home Depot, Lowes, and online at Amazon.

Yes but this grill has a long learning curve. Your presentation was excellent during warm temperatures but in the 60’s or less every time you open the grill takes 20-30 minutes to ramp up the internal temperature and that makes it very, very difficult to judge cooking and doness
