100% a re-upload. I distinctly remember that shaved-down heel, custom zebra LP, and that John Lennon guitar, even trogly's quote of "and he's got a bowling ball strat, he has good taste!"
@emilemarcotte2782Ай бұрын
It might be a partial reupload. For the first guitar, we can see the old reverb website design, but it's the current one later in the video. So part of the video might be new.

I love these things... We are too obsessed with dents and original, thinking we can all resell it, make money, or even become collectors, instead of actually playing the guitar. BTW, if one is a die hard Ace fan, I agree that modifying the guitar is the way to go.

The dude who modded most of Ace’s guitars in the 70’s (John Elder Robinson) wrote a book called “Look Me in the Eye: My Life with Asperger’s”. In it he describes his time with Kiss and some of the mods. It’s a really great book. Highly recommend.

Trogly, You missed a big hole in the first guitar. Look at the left side of the Bigsby. There is a hole next to the top left hole they had to drill. The shadow covers it, but it's easy to see once you look for it.

I'm glad that it was modified. Makes it a true custom deluxe . I have a 1979 factory second with all Chrome hardware with maple neck and volute. Best Gibson, i wish I never sold. Most Gibson lespauls need to be modified to the artist liking without paying exorbitant prices for them. Esp eclipse

Iwas terrified by all the things that were done to that Deluxe . But not as terrified as when we got a look at the wiring. I really likes the wood burned LP. But the last one looked fairly odd . The tail end just looked substantially wider than even my Greenburst Studio I bought after watching the episode you featured it in and it's also an 83. I'm pretty sure mine is at least mahogany

That Saturn switch made me think back over the last 60 years of working on guitars. For every one Fender type three, four or five oosition switch I've ever had to replace, there must have been five to ten or so of the Gibson type three position switches that have failed. Just rebuilt another one last week. Never thought of this before, has anyone else had similar or different experiences?

Those pole pieces on the bridge humbucker don’t quite line up with the strings. Possibly a neck pickup used in that position. I have a 496R in a bridge position and before I put a chrome cover without holes it looked very similar to this example.
@stephen3164Ай бұрын
You’d hate to see my refinished Studio! Sorry, I mean “refinished”. The plain maple top is really plain. The lack of binding on the body and neck… I mean, I get why they are cheaper, but she’s not a looker! Plays and sounds good though, and at 8 pounds, pretty lightweight. (full weight relief model)

ngl i kind of like the first one better than a normal deluxe, id just have to flip the pickups the right way around

I have always wanted a Les Paul body shape guitar with the body edges and horn rounded over like a Strat is, and of course with comfort cuts, and a flying V headstock shape, I hate the Les Paul headstock, I have 3 Les pauls and on 2 of them I have fitted String Butlers, none of the so called fixes worked to stop the D and the G going out of tune, I tried them all, rounding over the slots, nut sauce, graphite nuts, none of them worked as it was the string angle that was at fault, the String Butler solved the issue.

Putting the pickup the other way around in a guitar does not make it sound out of phase.
@marianogudino8087Ай бұрын
No, but if you split the coil changes the physical place where the pickup captures the sound. Out of phase happens when you change the in and out of the coil (like switching live and ground in a single coil) or when you flip the magnets direction
