Every tool maker had one where I worked when I was training, that tool chest brings back memories as a young lad in the late 70's through to the early 80's, I reckon bring it back to near original condition as possible; with new green baize, looking forward to seeing the finished result.

I love watching just a standard restoration, I feel like there's so many intricate steps that a novice like myself just wouldn't think to do let alone know how to. This is the kind of content I love seeing on these platforms because it's knowledge that is kind of hard to find these days. You should really consider doing a skilshare (or similar platform) class to pass on this ability!

Thank you Rachel! That's really made me think! I would love to think that some one, some where got the confidence to have a go at deliberatly buying or accepting from friends etc, objects that need a bit of tlc. It's so gratifying that it can become in a way quite addictive! Not only that, it's fantastically good therapy! The truth is i'm not very skilled at all but i enjoy having a go! and being a "fixer upper" i also enjoy hunting on boot sales and searching antique shops. It's inspiring to get messages every day from people who watch my little efforts and take the time to write lovely messages just like yours. Thanks again and have a great day😊

I believe that you should restore this piece, there is a lot of interesting character in this piece. I'm new to your channel and have not had the opportunity to see your other videos other than the restoration of the engineers tool chest 8 months past, which I enjoyed

look carefully on the bottom of the draws.. the owner would usually sign their name on them in pencil... to stop others swapping their own older / damaged draws over.

I think it's pretty cool as is. I would clean it up, fix the minor issues, replace the felt, and simply use it. Anything beyond that I would restore it back to original and display it in my parlor.

That ball looks like the sort of thing you'd use on a micrometer so you can measure say from a flat edge to a bore with the ball going between the anvil of the Mic and the bore. Obviously you have to deduct the diameter of the ball from your Mic reading to get the proper measurement. It's probably either 5 mm or 0.2 of an inch.

I'd like to see a wax finish instead of varnish. Wax brings a lot of depth to wood, in my opinion it's the most beautiful finish, but it doesn't give the protection that varnish does...
