Tom Lund here. The string is new. It was stored in my condo. Vicki Cook made a good living making strings in the 1980’s because the needed to be replaced often. Everyone shot them at many NAA National tournaments in Oxford ,Ohio. They broke often , you just replaced it with a new one. You can tell when it was going to break by watching for a wavey pattern in the serving area where your nocking point is. Once you saw that it had broken strands and needed to be replaced. The wavey pattern is easy to see by rotating the serving with your fingers.

Glad to see Alec sent you some of his E1 clickers. Looking forward to seeing a review when you get the regular one.

I remember shooting Kevlar strings in the late 70s. At the National Outdoor in 1979 we had at least one equipment failure (broken string) every 6 arrow end among +500 archers. Kevlar is why I learned to make my own strings.

I was THERE at the PEAK of Kevlar Bowstrings. We used to shoot both Saturday & Sunday at our club. My coach's bowstring would break at an unknown time each Sunday. I tried KEVLAR on my Yamaha YTD II bow, and when it broke, BOTH my LIMBS went about 2 or 3 yards downrange. It shocked me so much, that I returned to Dacron after that experience. The Yamahas were designed with Kevlar in mind, but I was unimpressed with limbs launching themselves downrange. 😅

The limb holders are surprisingly cool. I never would’ve imagined em.

I shot Kevlar strings in the early 1980s. There is no need for protective gear. The strings normally break at the nocking point or at one of the string loops. As you have said, breakage occurs around 1000 shots. I would say that 452X I use now has similar shooting characteristics.

I remember Kevlar strings. They would shear the tips off limbs and would have catastrophic failures where the whole thing would let go at once. The clear center serving is good so you could see the strands under the serving. Once FastFlight came out everyone went to that and didn't look back. (With great relief !)

Best equipment to buy first? An Accubow! See what weight of bow you can manage before buying any real bow and probably end up overbowed! Attach a laser to your bow and see how long you can hold at full draw. See how Asiatic archers choose their arrows and apply to yours! You really need such a high poundage?

I think there was a company in Japan that used to make sexy leg clicker but it was not popular so not many people know about it.

Guess if you wanted to test the strings you could use a much light bow draw wt. 30-35#? Put a spot on a target bale 30M away shoot five arrows using a fast flight or Dacron?? then five arrows with this string and see where the groups hit relative to the black spot higher or lower? I have heard of strings made of Kevlar before but have never seen one-- wear safety googles if you decide to shoot it...good luck.

Have you ever owned or used a Black Widow bow and if you have what are your thought on it?

Hi Jake , just wondering if you've tried a D97 served loop Flemish string on your Olympic Recurve . I did it 20 odd years ago , and i wouldn't go back to endless . Still using the same string i made in 1998 😊

Jake, is the wife still shooting? Is she going to be in some shooting videos, she was really improving last time she was in a video.

Breaking equipment? Clickers? What do Asiatic archers use as clickers? Fingers! Asiatic archery? Bow, arrows and quiver! Then it's down to you! Not spending loads of time and money on buying and tuning equipment. Put the fun back into archery.

As a deaf lad. (With cochlear implants) I love the carbon clickers so very interested in the sexy stiff ones 😜😁

I’ve never found I can hear clickers even carbon ones (partially deaf)

@@jamesbone894 I worked for years to adjust to the implants. I lost my hearing when I was 22. (Meningitis) All these years of work paid off for me there I think

90 metres? Korean bows shoot at targets 145 metres! So much for progress.
