I second this motion, since it's exactly what I'm planning to do irl. I'm a beginner with a Bear Archery Cruzer G2 and I want to pimp all accessories out before I invest in a high end bow, so that I can then take all the good accessories to that better bow. I'd be very interested in your opinion on how much of a difference in tuning this would make while doing it, and in terms of the resulting gains in accuracy.

I'm super excited by this video. I went out and bought a blackout intrigue xs RTH package. Spent 362$ plus 45$ for arrows. I've only shot archery for a month now and today, shot a 283 with this set up. Just goes to show that if your fundamentals are correct, expensive equipment only aids your skill. You make the best of what you have.

Fun fact: Martin Archery used to include a "Draw pin" with every bow, which allowed the customer to block the cam like you did so that draw lengths could be changed and peeps could be installed. Before presses were readily available, we often used ratchet tie-downs hooked to the cams to do the same.

I really enjoy watching these bow builds. I have learned so much. I’m tired of going to pro shops around my area which always seems to do something wrong. When I first bought my bow a while back I had cabellas do everything for me and come to find out they screwed up a lot of things. I then took it to a pro shop to install my drop away rest and after getting home and shooting a couple arrows my drop away fell. They forgot to tighten it down. This is when I decided to start building my own bows. These bow builds have helped so much. Thank you.

On the serving material front, I wanted olive drab green to match my VXR, but couldn't find any in that shade of green. So, being a fisherman anyway, I picked up a couple of cheap spools braided low-vis green fishing line, one is 80 lb., and the other is 65 lb. It is the Berkley X5 line and is $17 each for a 164 yard spool. And the diameters are right there at what you would want for serving material thickness at .015" for the 65 lb., and .016" for the 80 lb. It works great for peep tie in and stuff like that. You could go lower on the pound test for thinner line and use it for tied in nock points as well.

I love this concept. You dont need your thousand dollar bows to start off. I started with and still have a Mathews Switch, 29" draw, 60lb, 350 spine and I shoot a 285 on an avrg Vegas 3 spot. Shooting up to 50 yards in the backyard, I normally shoot 30-50 yards. 2" black printed dot with some painters tape holds it on the target and Ill do 3" groups all day long when the wind isnt howling. Iv had it for around 6 months, learning new things here n there to help amp up my game. My father was big into archery when I was little. He got out of it sadly, but is now getting back into it because I fell in love with it. Soon I plan to upgrade to a vxr 28 from this little Switch and give it to my brother to let him far around with. Hes not huge into archery so thatll fit him just well.

The bow has a riser, peep site and D loop on it but I don't have a sight, arrows, stabilizer or release yet, so as you can imagine I'm chomping at the bit to shoot some arrows now. Thanks to your video I now know how to set the bow up when I purchase my new bits.

I recently got my first bow back out (Diamond Edge SB-1), had it restrung and prepped as a back up bow. Hamskea rest, Trophy Ridge Alpha slide (basic one), and a simple CBE 10" stab, and it has been a blast to shoot. It actually has been a great learning experience also because I have gotten somewhat use to the forgiveness that I get out of my higher end bow and setup. With the Diamond, I have to really focus on my technique and consistency much more, which has only made me a better shooter with my upgraded setup. Great video and would like to see more videos, maybe a series, starting with this bow and showing a progression through beginner, mid-tier, and finally high end setups. Like some others have suggested, upgrade all the accessories, arrows, and release to higher end (even what you shoot on your Mathews) and see how it shoots. Then take it even further and upgrade the bow to a mid-tier $600-$800 bow. Just from a shooting standpoint, I really have wondered (with similar setups) how much different the levels of bows actually shoot.

Chris, you can get more height out of that trophy ridge sight by removing the sight housing rod, turning the mounting bracket over and reinstall the sight housing. That will give you more adjustment for the shorter yardages.

you can use a ratchet strap for a bow press. on single limb bows put a medal dowel in the strap hooks with the hooks going through the opening for the cam. on split limbs put the hook through the cams where it wont stretch the cam out of shape.

My first bow was an Amazon order very similar to this and i ran out of adjustment. The bracket arm that holds the sight housing to the bow is angled down. Flip it upside down and it will hold the sight higher then you will get some adjustment space back. I can tell you got a little burned out on this video in the end. Forget about this holdover crap, get the bow dialed in and prove the concept. Great fun video i totally get why this would burn you out once you have the micro adjust you cant go back.

Better off going with a Dragon for the extra 2" on axle to axle measurement, and take the savings towards a better sight with metal mount like a Trophy Ridge or TruGlo. The Dragon comes with BCY strings and Gordon Glass limbs. The Pro shop sells Matthew's Mission bows as the lower cost options, but I found them to be more harsh. With Pro shops closing down around here for some time now, it's over $20 in gas just to go to the local one and back. So a bow that one can tune at home is advantageous in my case. KZbin helps a lot with gaining experience.

@thedudenico30643 жыл бұрын
@@jordantremblay136 the V3 27 is by far the best short axle to axle bow ever! It’s a very quiet bow, it’s also a really stable bow even without stabilizers, it’s also pretty forgiving while it’s very short I have had some of the tightest groups with it and a couple of split arrows. This bow compared to the 31 is not very different I would say, the draw cycle is pretty smooth especially for it’s size. I’ve shot some long range with it and it performs great, if you want the bow to more consistent you could take the grip off which I have done and now the bow is even better. The bow also doesn’t just drop into the back wall when the let off kicks in like others, it feels very nice getting in to the back wall and is very solid and since it’s on the short side due to the string angle you got some more FPS. Once you start getting really comfortable with the bow you will always wanna stick with it, this bow literally puts a smile on my face. If your looking for a short bow that performs like a long bow look no further. If you have any other questions please ask me!

You just convinced me to buy a hammer. Been shooting for 30 years, high end bows, bowtech to be exact, but I want a compact,simple, hunting bow so I'm not beating up my expenses stuff. Thanks

Will your custom grip fit this bow? My son shoots this setup but has a ton of grip issues with it. Thank you.

I'm looking into upgrading my bow to something newer but without braking the bank. I have all the accessories I want and need. What's a good bare bow that I could get for around the $500 mark?

I have been purchasing Archery Equipment for 40 yrs... You hope, you get what you pay for... Meaning, high priced equipment is high quality!!

I’m glad Chris put this video out. For bow hunters there are far more important skills needed that an expensive bow can’t fill. Woodsmanship and marksmanship are much more important than the price tag on a bow.
