Three thoughts: 1) FANTASTIC restoration! Beautifully, respectfully done and presented in a way that is so satisfying to watch that it's borderline hypnotic - BRAVO! 2) Amazing ingenuity in the build design of these toys. Excellent! Tip: I had a fire engine like this and the string went along the underside of the lower ladder towards the cab, back down the upper side and attached to the bottom of the upper ladder. That way, the winding shaft extended the ladder. You didn’t need to pull it up. Hope that helps

Despite being toys, these things are quite an engineering feat. Consider all the specialized punches and dies that are required to manufacture each sheetmetal part! Also, consider all these toys were most likely hand-assembled, just as we see in nice restoration videos like this. The ladder was a very nice and intricate piece. Love it!

David, you set the standard very high. Look for an example of 'perfection' anywhere on the internet with regard to restoration or creation videos (subject, photography, editing, final product) and yours would consistently be at the top. One of my favorites is the #15 stainless steel copper pool ball. Have you considered making any instructional videos?

I simply can't imagine how much you've invested in all of this -- the tools, the equipment, the chemicals. I've pretty much got a Dremel and Harbor Freight.
