This must be, at the same time, one of the coolest and one of the less optimal ways to cut bread I've ever seen. Awesome restoration!
@CoolAgainRestoration Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot and glad you enjoyed 😊
@papaquonis Жыл бұрын
The reason it doesn't seem optimal, is because it's not cutting the type of bread it was made to cut. It's meant to cut Northern European style rye bread, which is MUCH denser than the soft white bread that's cut at the end of this video. I have an old bread guillotine, not quite the same type as this fancier model, but definitely a similar kind of machine, and we would never ever use it for soft white bread. A decent bread knife is far superior for that. But for dense rye bread - here in Denmark we call it rugbrød, in Germany it's probably Pumpernickel or Schwarzbrot or something similar - it's a magnificent tool, that slices perfectly even thin slices much better than you could ever dream of doing with a bread knife.
@CoolAgainRestoration Жыл бұрын
@papaquonis true , we don’t have here that type of bread. The only chance to do a nice cut is to wait until the bread will became old. But I made it another slicer 2 years ago and people told me that I succeeded to cut the bread because the bread was old and hard 🤧 now I used soft bread 😅

How else do you think screws and such are made? Pretty much just like that. You take into account the head, that's the minimum width. Screw is going to be smaller.
@Thoron_of_Neto Жыл бұрын
Usually when I see these videos, the person doing them, uses stock they have left over from other projects. This way they don't just waste off cuts by buying new stock every time. It's a trade off, because sometimes you have the right metal, but the stock is a bit too over sized, so while it may seem like they're wasting the metal, they're reusing scrap metal left over. It's also worth mentioning that steel can indeed be remelted into new stock.
