Thank you for this video. Had misfire on 1 & 6. Checked the spark from the coil pack and there was none on those wires. Changed out the coil pack and voila, no more misfire! An easy DIY fix.

Would a bad coil cause the engine to run for about 30 min and then die. Thank you for the great video by the way.

If your talking about a van just like this one probably not. Much more likely to misfire.

If I’m having a po300 code and cylinder 1 and 2 misfires would that still point toward the coil?

My question when there's a failure on a coil like that is why it failed. Some could of course fail due to being defective, but I find that most of the failures are caused by a faulty plug wire or spark plug not allowing the coil to discharge properly and as such building up higher potential each time it gets a signal to fire eventually causing the insulation to break down due to the high voltage stress. I suppose of course that if the engine was running great after the coil was replaced that the wires and plugs were in good condition in this case.

Excellent point. And those things could have contributed to the failure, but customer had wires and plugs replace a month prior. Sometimes these things just fail. Good point you noted there Fred! yabba-dabba doo!

@@CoolAirVw Yes, I assumed that might have been the case which would have course covered up the initial cause of the coil failure. It seems the most common thing done to try and repair a misfire are first plugs and ignition wires. If they didn't do that then of course you might have found that the coil replacement didn't fix the problem and then moved on to those items next. Naturally I don't have these problems with my car since I get the car going with my feet through the holes in the floor and also use my feet as brakes.

This is a scam. Coils and distributor caps do not usually cause misfire to just one cylinder or two...they can cause firing defects ...but these will not select just the same cylinder...I suspect the real problem is EGR valve clogged up in the ports.

nope. You might want to research waste spark systems. or Just dont comment when you dont know what your talkin about.
