You guys are turning me into a cooler expert. I'd be interested to start seeing durability tests and real life stress tests. Maybe later invest in a thermal camera to REALLY get technical about it.

what sold me wasn't the ice retention of the yeti coolers. it was the ability to strap it down and still be able to open the lid on the cooler. my old cooler i had to strap over the lid and unstrap it every time i wanted to get in. with the loops under the lid on the yeti is was like a miracle took place.

i went with the Lifetimes due them being made to stand and sit on. I picked up the 28 quart ($78 at walmart) and the 77 quart ($147 at walmart) quarts. They seemed to be the best value in terms of performance and build quality. I have a 45 quart Yeti and barely use it. It is too heavy, and it holds ice about the same as every cheap cooler i have ever owned when going in and out of it all the time. I use it for food with block ice or to store extra ice for drinks. i am just praying the Lifetimes lids won't warp in the sun over time. I have had that problem with various igloos over the years.

If you watch the ice retention video the lifetime 77qt held ice longer than ANY of the roto molded coolers and it's cheaper than all of them. I've found it for $139.... so I don't see a reason to spend the $300-$500 for a "premium" cooler

I am pumped to see the rest of the mid range non rotomolded coolers can compete but now the question is can the roto molded coolers extened their ice retention to above 2 weeks? I can wait for that day

Mason Love may i ask what cooler lasts 2 weeks?
@justinkeckhaver81995 жыл бұрын
Not to sound nitpicky, but let the viewers know that the OtterBox is actually an injection molded cooler. Granted it holds it's own against the roto molded coolers and then some, it's still a different type of construction. I'm hoping you'll address that when you review the accessories for the OtterBox coolers.

I have several roto molded coolers. All are great. Many have been dropped and fallen off my truck. One a bear tried to greet in. They are the way to go if you hunt like I do 5 to 10 days staying in the mountain.

On your site it shows that Lifetime Coolers with "Up To 9 Days" and the Igloo BMX with "Up To 7.5 Days" So which is right, what you're saying in this video, or what it says on your site? Here you claim the Igloo is better. It also says that the Igloo Quantum with wheels has 7.75 days, which would be longer.

Thanks for the video. I have my eye on the igloo or lifetime and your recommendations are a big help. Have you ever heard of the brand Everbuilt? Apparently it’s exclusively from Home Depot. There is quite a think wall between the storage space and the outer perimeter of the cooler (about 2 in.) and I wonder if that would extend days of ice, or if it just a design decision. They are about 90-100 for the 28qt.

Hey, thanks again for these awesome videos. You do such a great job. If you don’t mind, I would value your opinion on whether the Engel 65 is worth the extra $150+ over the Lifetime 55. What leads me to these is that they are comparatively lighter weight for their size and prefer these type of latches. Any thoughts between these two?
@CoolersOnSale5 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what youll be using the cooler for. If youre going to be sliding around the back of your truck, camping, fishing, etc, you might want the Engel. The Lifetime is much more susceptible to scratching, scuffs etc. Having said that, the lifetime is a really good value. Both will hold ice for longer than most need. It really is a personal preference.

Of course there is ice retention and then there is durability. Don't want to be buying another $99 cooler every year or two.
@JustOutHereTinkering5 жыл бұрын
I do get the buy once cry once mentality but I have never broken a cooler, I don't beat them up that bad. I have a $30 cooler I've had for 10 years. Doesn't hold ice for 10 days but still functions like the day I bought it... I suppose if you are hard on your coolers I could see spending the extra money for the durability, but for me I have never had that issue...

Lifetime cooler is not worth the money and does not I repeat does not hold ice for 7 days. Doesn’t hold ice for 2 days even. 55 quart $150 at Walmart. Save your money and buy a cooler that works
@holycroc205 жыл бұрын
There's Ice retention, and then there's 98% water and enough cubes to fit in your palm. If you can count the number of cubes, that's not ice retention. Any beverages sitting in water with enough cubes to count isn't gonna be that cold very long or already has lost it's coldness.....

"Holds ice 7 days" .....yea, right.....come to Texas, I'll prove you wrong
@CoolersOnSale5 жыл бұрын
Ahh yes, normally it's Arizonians claiming the same. The point of the test is to show which cooler holds ice longer. If i wanted to show a cooler holding ice for 2 weeks, I'd leave it in the shade, as most would do when actually using a cooler. The point is to give an idea as to which performs better under the same conditions.
@cabbyhubby5 жыл бұрын
@@CoolersOnSale ...I've got the cheaper roto molded off brand cooler, I use 3 bags of ice per week in the summer, With the old foam coolers we used a bag of ice per day ......I should of bought me a hotel style ice machine 30 years ago and be done with it, too old now to make the investment worth while.
