They put the harsh bit of velcro on their suit because if it was on the saddle and they weren't sitting in the right position then it would scratch and possibly rip the suit

tony martin got injured like this. he was using sand paper tape on the saddle. it ripped the suit and his legs were bleeding at the end of the stage. it was crazy. he was pedaling like a duck for the last kilometers.

I supported my dad at the IM 70.3 Switzerland and told exactly the same Jan Ullrich-mounting-the-Xentis-Mark-1-the-wrong-way- story to my mum and grandparents during the race, when sbd passed us by using them (mounted correctly). Btw, the failing mechanic was no-one other than Ulles brother😂😂 great anecdote and very funny to come across it twice in a single week😂😂

Doing the velcro that way means you can still use the saddle with bibs that don't have velcro on them.

About the Dracon wheel cover, it is a Brazilian company (quite sure) that produces these covers in the right sizes for your deep section wheels, then you just attach it to the rear wheel. It costs ~150USD. Seems like a good option if you don't want to invest in a new disc wheel.

Are you actually even allowed to rack you bikes with the brake levers? I know transition space tends to be in short supply, and the officials at my last race were talking about disqualifying the guys around me who were racked wrong if they couldn't be found to rearrange their bikes.
