If you missed it, here is the first video in this series! kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaHYlX5qqrOqd9k So what do you think about this new building vlog video format? Not as slick or polished as a planned tutorial... but simpler to edit, so I should be able to get them out faster!

12:32 where do your ideas come from? I tend to get caught up in what I’m trying to do based on a picture I found. This doesn’t work 😢so I get frustrated
@SongbirdGaming3 ай бұрын
@@GamingwithJael aww that does sound frustrating. I sometimes will look at pictures of real life buildings, or buildings in various types of art like fantasy or video game art just for inspiration, but when I start a build I usually only have a somewhat vague idea of what I want it to look like. More like the general shape and style of it, not really the details. That's what I take from reference pictures is I look at the details that give it an overall look or style. What makes a building look western? (For an example). I'll look at a bunch of pictures of western style buildings to see if I can figure out what they have in common and what makes them have that vibe. I usually have an idea of what the building will be used for, and so what the functionality needs to be. And then I just kind of take it one step at a time and just let it evolve. I just play around with it until I like it. So when I'm working on the foundation layer, laying out the general shape of the building, I don't spend a whole lot of time thinking about the details of the walls or the roof. I'm just trying to get the foundation layer to have nice shape that I like. And I just have to trust my future self that whatever problems I've created, I will be able to figure out some kind of solution to them when I get to that part. But for me, focusing on one little piece at a time is key, because if I looked at the entire thing and tried to plan all the details out beforehand I would just get overwhelmed. This is also why none of my builds tend to look exactly the same as each other. I don't tend to build the same thing more than once, unless it's a tiny starter base or something. Because I'm always experimenting and trying new things and then one little change in the foundation design means the walls will be different and the walls being different means the roof will be different and before I know it the whole thing looks very different. And I just embrace that. And to a certain degree, embracing the imperfections is important to me as well. I think that's actually one thing that tends to make my builds look a little more unique. I try to make them look pleasing to me… I don't try to make them perfect.
