English guy living in TN here. Gone from only ever drinking scotch to really appreciating a solid bourbon! Keep up the good work :)

The tasting room is on Main Street on the same block as the Baseball Hall of Fame, a two minute walk away. It’s lovely and the staff are very sweet. They have additional spirits and a selection of souvenirs. The spirits in the baseball decanter is the biggest seller. The actual distillery is also in town a few blocks away off the main drag. If you find yourself anywhere near Cooperstown, DEFINITELY stop in - the town is full of historically preserved buildings and your transported to the late 1800s, and Lake Otsego is beautiful. James Fenimore Cooper’s home is 10 minutes away on the lake, and is a lovely museum that brings in impressive exhibits.

So Cooperstown wanted to mimic everything about baseball in this package. The ball is a larger replica, same number of stitches like a baseball, baseball diamond on the bottom, homage to Doubleday etc. When it first came out, it was $60ish and sold easily during the holiday months and Father’s Day. The issue most had with it is that the juice didn’t match the price, so it was mostly a gift kind of item. Since then, they took in some investors who did a number of things. Extended the like of themed bottles (golf club, football etc). They are now able to create their own juice and add it to the blend. Most importantly is that brought the price down by over $20. Now, the juice is a closer match to the price point AND it’s still a fun gift to give to family and friends.

I've visited this distillery twice, you've given the Doubleday a fair review. This one and the Beanball Bourbon are definitely crowd pleasers. The releases in the Select Series are a significant step up, lots of complexity and flavor, very far from the thin and simple profile of this one.

You guys aren't kidding about those prices. Craeg Isle 12, a Total Wine created Islay, that I like to call Ardbeg lite. It started as a $26 pricetag. It was worth $26. Now it has a $46 prices tag, almost the same cost as Ardbeg 10 had back when Craeg Isle was released likr 4 years ago. It is getting sorta nuts indeed. I have moved to only buying budget stuff and have had a chance to hunt around and taste. So I found some that are much better than the ones you guys featured a few Saturdays ago in Whiskey Tribe channel, but I am not even thinking about collecting at this point. A shame as I was going to before prices went so high.

Morning MBs! Watched one of the old vault videos the other day and Rex was talking about picking up Laphroaig for around $30... And at the time I was watching in my area the 10 was easily $60, and has now gone up to about $80 with tax. So no only regioinal differences but inflation increased tariffs as well.

I can't fault your pronunciation because you're from Texas and that's the Spanish influence there, but Otsego is pronounced Ot-see-go. Otsego is a Mohawk or Oneida word for Place of the Rock.

Community, I'm about to hit two years in my career, and I've decided for every career anniversary, I'll buy a (years * 100) dollar bottle of whiskey, so my budget is $190-210 (it can be slightly outside this range, but my goal is one bottle around $200). I don't enjoy bourbon, but any other type of whiskey is great, especially Scotch, rye, and Indian. I welcome your recommendations within that very specific budget.

The baseball distillery needs to age their whiskey in unswung baseball bat wood barrels. Likewise, the bowling pin distiller should use unwaxed bowling lane wood barrels. I think this would result in a product that is more flavorful and true to itself.
