Amazing that after realizing this show was going to end and go down as an infamous failure, they decided to go out addressing this very subject, in song! They not only did it with their heads held high and with a smile, they did it by promising that one day they'd "Rise Again". While this didnt help them get renewed or later rebooted, they did "rise" from obscurity and an entire new generation is discovering this oddball show on KZbin!

I never understood why people chuckled when they talk about Cop Rock. They did an outstanding job. The acting was first rate, the singing was great, the comedy was wonderful, and I looked forward to and enjoyed every episode. I miss the show to this very day. God bless!

Cop Rock was too weird of a concept for most people to grasp.

Because as good as a job as they did with the songs and the performances the plot literally stood still while they sing whole a song out of something that could be said in a line or two tops, that being said the performing was top Notch

I loved this show when it was on. A wonderful concept, several years ahead of its time. Think Glee, Smash, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend; even episodes of Scrubs, Buffy the Vampire Slayer; and Gray's Anatomy (to name a few) have followed its format. This final episode was great. Before the last commercial break, scripted scenes playing out the various story lines. After the commercial, you think at first it's just another scene. Then you catch what they're saying..."I can't believe we got canceled." This was before the internet. There was no warning. They handled it brilliantly.

For 1990, I think this was great 4th Wall/Meta stuff! Would not have expected something like this, and it's nice to see the actors have fun with it.

Heavens Gate the 1980 movie with Kris Kirstoffeson cost 44 million dollars and brought in 3 million. One of biggest flops in movie history. Cop-rock had great writing in their songs.

This fourth wall breaking and talking about music outside of the musical numbers were exactly what I hoped for throughout the show when I first heard about it. Like imagine the cops were trying to solve the case but also didn't want to be late for acapella practice.

I think this show would have survived if we had streaming media back when the show was made. Truth be told to show just slightly ahead of its time. I bet was rebooted today on either Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu this would probably Thrive given its cult status.

I saw this show, ma'am, when it first aired. If you were disappointed when it ended, you were part of a very small minority. This was a bad idea, poorly timed and poorly executed. And it has aged as well as a quart of milk from 1990.

Spoiler Alert: They did NOT Rise Again - This show is exactly where it belongs in the pop culture zeitgeist. A hidden treasure uncovered by people who were unaware it ever existed & finding pure enjoyment from what it is and marveling at the bold risk it took as a primetime tv show in the early 90s that absolutely bombed with the general audience. The fact that it was such a mainstream failure to the point where its mere name was joke in the mainstream is actually what endears it to so many over 30 years later & beyond. As someone who lived through this as a high school student, this show had ZERO chance to succeed in 1990-91. I loved the 90s but one of my criticisms of that era, especially the early 90s, was just how Damn serious everyone took themselves. From grunge to the "Too cool for school" attitude that existed in pop culture, a show this off the wall and out of the box was Dead On Arrival in that era. Kudos to Steven Bochco for at least stepping into the batter's box.
