For drillin them welds, Rob, I've found using a 3mm bit through the center first, do 'em all - then get a cone bit & just go deep enough in the same hole to release the weld - it works great & better than all the "proper" spot weld bits. Cone bit is far easier/faster & lasts ages. An air-chisel is your best Pal for then releasing the panel.. Agree 100% on the battery ratchet - they're a gift of a tool. I use mine all day every day.

What with the current apocalypse, the beautiful sunshine, a Frankenstein Fiat and a yard in lockdown, could be an outtake from Mad Max! Great work Rob.

Hi Rob you’re defiantly not afraid of hard work. I know I guy and he uses the mini belly sander on those hardened spot welds works a treat. Try it you’ll be surprised. Thank you for entertaining the troops while we are on lockdown. Not easy going from 72 hours a week to zero my dog starts crying every time I look in his direction in case I take him out walking again. Super work I really enjoy your videos kindest regards too you and Chris

You won't believe this, but I was 4 minutes in and thinking of asking you what drill bits you use. I have tried loads, Bosch, Torx, B and D, etc etc, they all lose it after not very long! Then you go and say your drill bit was blunt!! That was a coincidence? I repair old planes, and they always have screws that need drilling out, they are also in the American sizes which is fun! I bought a box of Bosch drill bits and accessories and some were ok others not? Hope you are coping with the lockdown and keep em coming mate. This is great for me as it is the side of the garage I don't usually go in. Re building engines and stuff yea, body work no! Cheers 🥂

You’ve got a proper vision with this project Rob. It’s looking cracking already and you’re working like a trooper! It’s going to be amazing when it’s finished. Thanks for the video and the content. Looking forward to the Truck video tomorrow.

Love to see you doing the spot welds etc Rob. Its more about seeing the detail of how you do it and what can be achieved. You can fix rear quarter damage fairly easy, most people get scared off at the mention of the rear quarters. I'm not so experienced with the bodywork and watching your videos like this are helping me have the confidence to get involved doing the body work on my pulsar myself, I'm more a mechanics guy (although I don't claim to be a mechanic). 90's import Nissan arches rust up a treat after a few British winters.

Another look at the innards of the Fiat 500 which we wouldn`t normally ever get to see, so a good insight into construction, and also it just show the expertise which you and Chris have, and why it is better to put the car back on the road instead of adding more cars. I did notice the drivers door mirror has damage but I expect you have one from your parts car.

Yep correct, if you weld it in the traditional manner you reduce its strength

Rob before the car goes to the paintshop you have to remember that the 500s has some holes in the quarter panel for the little plastic screws of the sie skirt. The donor car is a non-s 500 so it doesn't have the holes. Btw, awesome job as usual :)
