Unfortunately, the Prius will not start once the battery pack fails because it is required to start the gasoline engine. It appears that complete failure is likely imminent. As such, the Prius' resale value is nominal as service to or replacement of the battery pack is, unfortunately, a necessity for use. Driving the vehicle in its present state could potentially result in a sudden failure and stranding.

Gotta do what u feel u gotta do, lol. I think ur going about things right, I can see the way u do things, saving as much money as u can as fixing things. With the batteries in the Prius, who knows maybe someone just replaced a few battery packs where if all were changed, they would be more consistent. I would thinker older 'weaker' batteries might just have an adverse affect on the newer ones, possibly shortening the newer battery's life. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Randy. Maybe the 12v battery you changed is giving the triangle signal. I have 2nd gen prius, when my 12 v battery was failing i got that signal. I subscribed to your channel back then because you not only showed us how you get the vehicles, but more importantly, you went into detail on how to fix the cars. I’m happy for you and what you’re doing, but it’s getting harder and harder to watch your videos. I understand that your moving the channel into the most logical direction, but these past few months have lacked what you used to be, and now it’s mainly the walk arounds, and you flipping cars. You haven’t really produced content recently(except for the old corvette) that showed us how to fix the cars. Hopefully you will change that with the new shop go back to how you did your videos back then, the uberman I once remember.

DO-IT-YOURSELF TEST PROCEDURE (thanks to jdenenberg): Without brake pedal, press the Power button once and release to enter ACC mode Press and hold the MFD Info button, then turn the headlights on and off three times to enter Maintenance mode; release Info button Press “Menu” (on screen) Press “Display Check” Press “Vehicle Signal Check” - the battery voltage is shown and should be about 12.4 to 12.8 Volts (normal for an unloaded battery) Again without brake pedal, press Power button and release to put a current load on the battery - the voltage should stay above 12.0V (if less than 12.0V the battery is not well, or there is a fault or unusual load somewhere) Press brake pedal and press Power button once to enter "Ready" mode - the battery is now charging at about 14V (if less than 13.6V or more than 14.4 there may be a problem with the charging circuit) Turn car OFF to leave Maintenance mode How long ago was your friend's battery replaced? I'm leaning towards a rebuilt(?) battery because it's $1,100 vs $2700 from the dealer but I'm not sure how long they last.
